There is a flaw in the ignore function, that leads me towards false optimism that there may have been an interesting development on a discussion thread.

I have my own internal ignore facility: it almost instantly filters out shouty links with exclamation marks and semi-literate captions. I don't even need to pause scrolling.

If you use the 'What's new' link, it filters out threads with the latest post by people you've ignored; 'New posts' doesn't.

It just rather depresses me to see how many pixels have been used up saying absolutely nothing meaningful or useful. Ignorance is bliss, and also saves getting a blister on my scrolling finger.
