Starmer at PMQ repeatedly insisted that Due Procedue was followed in the appointment of the ambassador.

Do we need a review of the Due Procedures?

Probably but if the prospective appointee fails to disclose their history and stuff emerges post appointment which reveals their lack of frankness then prompt dismissal is the answer.

You think the government didn't have the intelligence on Mandleson before appointment to ambassador?

Starmer knew, he just didn't want to act upon it, pretty much like all his government appointees that have had to resign

I don't disagree, but my point, which is not a party political one is whether the procedures Starmer was hiding behind yesterday are thorough enough for such high profile and important roles as an ambassador (or senior minister). They seem to have failed to identify important information. ( Assuming they did fail to identify and were not simply brushed under the carpet)

Extortion says @Stevo 666. Yet when the rich threaten to move elsewhere, that's due to leftiebollox higher taxes and should definitely not be seen as extortion.

The rich moving abroad is a reaction to avoid extortion attempts by the government. Nor when they do move abroad are millions of peoples travel plans disrupted.

No Brian, what is hoped for is some express criticism of Mandelson and a questionning of the judgement of the PM in appointing him.
Not staying nothing as you seem to do unless it is someone on the right.

He's an utter arse.

Will that do?

Mandelson seems never to have been popular with Labour, except for with Blair and Starmer

Apparently Mandelson burned his bridges with traditional Labour supporter when he was MP for Hartlepool in the early 90's and was trying to show he was a 'man of the people' (a bit like Ed Miliband's bacon sandwich episode) - went into a chippy to get something to eat, saw a metal container with mushy peas in it and asked for some of their finest guacamole ^_^

A bit surprised you never chastised Stevo over on Cakestop for never ever criticising Tories however dishonest or incompetent they were, TBH.

That doesn't excuse your Carol Vorderman-like behaviour on here.

In any event, I'm sure you've done enough to ingratiate yourself with the more swivel eyed socialists on this forum and can now take your foot off the pedal a bit in the 'who can slag off the Tories the most' competition 🙂
