One of the few times he really should have taken more advice before jumping in quickly.
On C4 evening news, Gov. (Ms Nandy) promising resources would be available and banging on about it in the context of antisemitism.

Maybe I should advise them, when you're in a hole stop digging.

It's daft. They had the perfect time to 'review the position' after the violence in Israel, and yet they are doubling down. Any violence will be down to the idiocy of letting thugs into the country against the advice of the police. They are giving themselves no off ramp.

Looks like he's been saved.

The Maccabi fan thing is almost as much of an embarrassment as admitting to knowing f*ck all about football as when Cameron got confused between Villa and West Ham. Both a pathetic and misguided attempt at populism.

Trouble with that is he is a fan, which makes it all the more silly.

Seems to me that the Maccabi fan ban stems from the Police assessment from intelligence and experience from other events. So it seems to me primarily a Police "decision". So politicians declaring it is antisemitic is in effect declaring the Police force to be anti-semitic. If they really mean this should there not be an inquiry or investigation to root-out the sources and causes of what politicians seem to be alleging is antisemitic Police force?

I think he's being held hostage by Glasman, which would help explain his reticence on the EU (Glasman is a Brexiter) and his reflexive attitude to all matters to do with Israel.

The more I read about Glasman, the more I think "WTF?" His apparent embrace of Trumpism is just extraordinary.

There is cross party agreement, with some local independent MPs supportive of the ban. So it’s not as if Starmer is alone in this.
I can only conclude that the threat of being labelled ‘antisemite’ hangs heavily even if not justified.
It’s not as if there isn’t a precedent for banning away supporters where there is a risk of trouble.

That too (including the history of antisemitism within the Labour Party that Starmer had to deal with post-Corbyn).

Exclusive: Labour’s top team has accepted hundreds of thousands of pounds from pro-Israel funders.

Ms Nandy on the list as well.
