Seems to me that the Maccabi fan ban stems from the Police assessment from intelligence and experience from other events. So it seems to me primarily a Police "decision". So politicians declaring it is antisemitic is in effect declaring the Police force to be anti-semitic. If they really mean this should there not be an inquiry or investigation to root-out the sources and causes of what politicians seem to be alleging is antisemitic Police force?

I wonder what the police (or Starmer for that matter), make of Spurs' "Yid Army" chant.

And, for balance, what they might make of Celtic fans wafting Palestine flags around?

(I already know the answer to both these questions. It's the square root of f*ck all. Football has been a populist whipping boy since forever.)

Load of sh!te.

Maccabi Tel Aviv ultras have previous (their history didn't start on 6 November last year) and if it was a team from any other country there wouldn't even be a question about it.

Their recent derby with Hapoel was called off because of fan violence.

And they're not being singled out either, Roma fans are almost certainly going to be banned from their final three Europa League games after they kicked off in Nice. Frankfurt and Ajax have also been banned from travelling to their next two European fixtures.

But every one knows that facts and reality are antisemitic!

The real issue in all of this is that UEFA sanctions are utterly pathetic, little more than a slap on the wrist in most cases, and quite often suspended unless there's a repeat infringement.

By slashing burdensome red tape we'll save UK firms nearly £6 billion a year by the end of this Parliament. We're helping businesses to grow and building an economy that works for working people.

Non-sequitur alert.
Labour elite seem to think that adding "for working people" (sometimes "for hard working people") justifies anything. We're going to accelerate climate damage by building more airport runways for hard working people. We're going to increase business costs by increasing NI for working people. etc.

Obviously retired pensioners aren't included in the "[hard] working people" group, so I assume will be excluded from any benefit from the hoped-for improved economy.

I hate that term wholeheartedly.

Firstly, it feeds into the trope that the more you earn the easier it is. There not much correlation in my experience, but if anything the successful people I know have that success at a high personal cost.

Secondly, by extension, it is intrinsically patronising to the poor proletariat who are working so hard, so so hard. But thank you and please accept this pat on the head.

Thirdly, it's going to get exploited to create some false divide between hard working people on six figure salaries with those possibly working less hard on lower salaries, regardless of which group is going to die from a stress induced illness first.
