I read somewhere that the reason that Oman intervened shortly before the strikes was because they feared that the US negotiators were simply out of their depth and not understanding what was being negotiated/proposed. Given the incompetence that seems to be a requirement to be a member of Team Trump, it sounds highly plausible. Of course, it's also possible that the negotiations were simply a smokescreen in the run up to a planned assault. As with all these wreckers (including Johnson & Frost etc from 2019), if you can wreck deliberately or by incompentence, it doesn't really matter, as the wrecking is the objective, and it doesn't really matter how you achieve it.

I agree and additionally Trűmp does not seem to appreciate the complexity of these agreements. Far more involved than "OK, we'll do what you want" (eg as "what you want needs to be clearly specified,"). Also what US will be assuring in return needs defining to the point to having some degree it won't be torn-up a few days later.

Such agreements can never come from a 1hr meeting but my impression is Trùmp thinks that it doesn't even take that long.

Worth noting that Ukraine is pushing forward addressing the corruption from its past whereas Russia offers Witkoff/Trűmp/Kushner "business opportunities".

Many experts and analysts have commented that Witkoff and Kushner do not inspire any confidence at the negotiating table. They do not have the skills and the experience, but are ok with Trump because they have the same background. I guess they speak the language that Trump understands.

One last example for you.

There are 195 people in a room. 9 of them, when you approach and say hello, will punch you in the face.
It is therefore safer to approach the 186 people who won't punch you in the face because they have not developed that technology. The people who can punch you in the face are not safer because they can punch you in the face. They just have the ability to punch people in the face. They might feel safer because they can punch you in the face, but everyone would be safer if no-one could punch anyone in the face.

Thus we can derive that 186 countries do not have punch-you-in-the-face technology because it is safer not to - particularly if you are friends with the 9 countries that keep threatening to punch people in the face.
