It's sounding like it might well be over for Starmer - Streeting to announce a challenge tonight or tomorrow is the suggestion on Sky
I'd not pay much attention to them, TBH - they do like talking up the drama.
That said, I think Starmer's non-event today will be encouraging possible challengers to move sooner rather than later, as it's clear Starmer thinks he can get away with just more of the same, with the words in a different order (and the nonsense of 'being at the heart of Europre' whilst sticking to his red lines of staying out of the meaningful EU stuff that could boost trade). I'm not even going to call it fence-sitting, as most of the stuff he's done has been leftish, but then there's the screaming anti-immigrant stuff. It's like he's got his feet solidly on the ground either side of the fence, with a fencing stake up his arse. Maybe that's why his delivery is so stilted.
