Well look at the race to the bottom on environmental issues, bidding for the petrol-head vote yadda yadda - it's a real scorched earth policy, but once in a while it works in people's favour.

Indeed. Cost daughter no 4 £20 to get to her shift today, to earn 10 hours at minimum wage. Her £20 will not even be tax deductible.

Solidarity costs.
