Well, no. That's the basic denial of democracy bit. There is no lawful route to a second referendum, never mind actual independence.

Oh dear, pity you didn't take your chance last time.

A bit like Brexit though, vote, unhappy with the decision so spend the rest of your Iives trying to get another.

What progress would this be then, last time I looked Scotland was still part of the UK.

Independence is yet another aspect of life that is too complicated to fit a binary paradigm.

No need wrt Brexit. That shoot is dead in the water. If the Telegraph is reporting that its a fark up then its game over.

Not really.

The country is poorer. Decreased tax revenue means services are worse. And it has emboldened all the racists and bigots.

This is a summary of the average of polling results from five different organisations over the past 20 months. Other than an increase in support for independence around the time of the UK government decision not to allow a second referendum, which has now been reversed (the increase not the decision), to my untrained eyes it seems a pretty unchanging picture, but still a greater level of support than that shown in IndyRef1. Trends in polls are much more relevant than one-off results which can be affected too much by the current news.

It will be interesting to see the polls once she has stepped down and the leadership battle begins.

I would not be surprised if, as well as all the hard work she has put herself through over the years being virtually  the face of Scottish Independence, some disillusionment over the lack of a breakthrough in support has contributed to her decision.

The issue then was EU membership.

Then, in 2016, the English electorate had a massive brain fart which Scotland has been forced to deal with.

If that is an allusion to having repeated referenda, you might pause to consider that the UK voted to join in 1975. Perhaps we should have just accepted the result of that democratic vote rather than holding more until we got the decision you wanted.

I was referring to the referendum as it happens.
