I was too big to hit with the guitar, being a teenager by then.

It hurt more not being able to play the guitar (despite my Bert Weedon teach yourself book) as I was never to have a career as a 60s pop band member.

Vehicles in general have become much safer for vehicle occupants (the improvements haven't been so fast in pedestrian / cyclist safety but despite vehicles getting bigger and heavier they have improved).

The bad news is that the big improvments to vehicles seem to have plateaued and deaths have remained fairly consistent for the past 15 years.

Road furniture has made a huge difference too.
Lightning,signage, road markings and traffic calming measures all make a massive difference. Especially around notorious junctions.
There are a few junctions near my old house which I remember 40 years ago as being constant black spots.
They are now massive round abouts with well lit signage. Before they were high speed unlit cross roads on major roads.

Problem is the deadline for nominations was early in the year. It will be next year if he does get nominated. However, he'll probably throw a tantrum he didn't get it this time and destroy the peace deal in revenge as after all "many people" said he should get it. I'd be surprised if the committee ever consider someone who tries to nominate themselves though.

It would be useful if they could dangle the shiny bauble one year ahead of Trump and suggest he might get it if the peace lasts. Maybe he could stop another eight wars in the meantime too.

The nominations for this year's peace prize closed in January, probably before Trump was inaugurated.

Ha, this is just too good. Not only did one of Gisele Pelicot's rapists (the only one to appeal against his verdict) have his appeal denied, but his sentence for raping Pelicot while she was drugged was increased. She's an amazing woman, turning up in court again to testify.
