Exactly. To use a personal example, the last time I visited a Job Centre, there were computer monitors on a desk, not plugged into anything and without a keyboard or mouse. Brilliant.

It's a farcical system that almost seems designed to fail.

The bare minimum allowance on UC, as I understand it, is just over £300. Which is ridiculous.

That is correct, a little over £300/month, plus an allowance for rent. The rent allowance may, or may not, pay all of your rent. Son No2 is in this situation. It so happens he rents a local authority flat, and, the allowance covers his rent, but, not the water and sewerage charges. He also gets some or possibly all of his council tax paid.

£368.74 if you're over 25. £292.11 if you're younger.

In social housing you'll get full rent unless you're 'under occupying' - ie have a spare bedroom.

Private renters are subject to Local Housing Allowance limits.

£324.84 is what I have received for the majority of being on Universal Credit. It was a heady £411.51 when there was an increase which almost seemed benevolent.

£324.84 was the Standard Allowance in 2021/22 but was bumped up to £411.51 until October by the Covid era 'uplift'.

£368.74 is the 23/24 rate, ie that which applies until April 24.

It will increase by September's RPI (6.8%?) from then on but I've not yet seen the exact rates proposed for 24/25 .

Downing Street says the Prime Minister retains full confidence in Home Secretary James Cleverly.
Usually means on his way out.... hopefully.

Yes, those words are usually the kiss of death, although, in this instance, Cleverly’s alleged utterances were unusually accurate.
