Below is taken from the above article. It doesn’t sound in any way dodgy.

First there was Fifa's shock announcement earlier this month, bringing forward the bidding process for 2034 by three years when decreeing that the host country must come from either Asia or Oceania, and giving just 26 days for bids to be declared.

This followed its approval of the 2030 tournament being given jointly to the continents of Europe, Africa and South America, despite the dismay of environmental campaigners, thereby ruling them out of bidding for 2034 under Fifa's rotation policy.

Then - within minutes - came the Saudis' formal announcement of their bid, swiftly followed by the backing of the Asian Football Confederation.

This seems the right place to post this, considering all the politics which swirl around football:

Seems to me that Everton are getting shafted here for not knowing the right people in the right places.

The Prem has made a rod for themselves now.
City have over 100 pending charges.
Surely only one of those has to stick to get them a 10 point punishment. If more than one sticks then it should be instant relegation.

Not been following this super closely but have the 101 stuffed brown jiffy bags arrived yet?

I doubt that much, if anything, will happen to Man City. UEFA let them off with a slap on the wrist 3 years ago, though Premier League rules are stricter and don't have a statute of limitations. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this all started after someone hacked into their e-mail database and went to Der Spiegel with what they found, which may form a large part part of their defence.

I'm seriously tempted to order a Streatham shirt to support this wonderful club...

Surely it's because he cares passionately about the cause, and believes publicising it is The Right Thing to do?

No?

Maybe. But it's not like he has, as far as I'm aware, any previous for statements like this and it's not exactly like he's raising awareness for some obscure cause.

The only footballer I can think of in recent times who's made a credible political statement is James McLean.
