That phrase has always mystified me.

I think the point of the song was initially about the tournament being held in England. Strange to think that it has been as long since the song was released as the song itself was from '66 but every tournament since it has resulted in some fan boldly proclaiming on a radio phone in or TV vox pop that it's coming home.

The song is from the Euros, 1996.

On another issue, am I right in thinking there are significantly fewer Saint George flags around this world cup.

I haven't seen a single one attached to a car yet. This is unprecedented in our ~20 years in this town.
(Sadly there's still a few attached to lamposts)
