And this kind of remark is why you've earned the epithet of 'twatospheric arsëhole'.

He's right though, William, Kate and the kids are real favourites and I would say have a long popular reign ahead of them once old Charlie pops his clogs.

Love it!

You are in the age demographic that supports a monarchy. But look at the under 25s.

The monarchy in its current form has, at most, 25 years left.

It's inevitable.

Why would it make it more useful?

The point of an official opening is publicity. Sponsorship by the crown is very helpful indeed - especially if you sell your goods overseas.

Do we sell bridges overseas? We used to, but, I am not aware of any surviving companies doing so, so much for that publicity. We do still have Architects / Structural Engineers exporting their skills in this area.

That is a remark that will come back to haunt you, at least by those of us who are still here in 2048.

Chances are by then Wills and Kate will be doing the job, which will deal with the younger ones in the poll who don't get it.

Well fück. How'd I manage to miss that referendum?

Have a stupid referendum tomorrow if you like.

There's a clue as to the result a few posts up.

How come all these self-loathing Tory bootlickers are quite so bloody sanctimonious?:laugh::laugh:

Nothing to do with morals.

You need to learn what long words mean before using them.

Look up the meaning of sanctimonious and come back to me.

Here's shorter word you might get: idiot.

Get what? Your socialisation into monarchy via imperialist indoctrination?

You can't put up any sort of lucid argument for monarchy, because if you could you would have done so. At best all you manage is argument by authority, but mostly all you are doing is displaying a reactionary mindset.

You are a bit thick, aren't you. Complete failure to understand Xipe's point.

What happens is younger people who may not want/be interested in something when they are younger become interested/like it as they age, or at the very least moderate their view.

I'm suggesting this will happen to some of the younger ones in the poll you you posted.

In other words, they might be shouting 'abolish!' in their early 20s, but won't be doing so by their mid 30s.

My case for the monarchy couldn't be simpler - I like it.

Thanks for yet another juvenile insult, but it's not my problem he doesn't understand the meaning of English.

In any case the offer of a referendum stands.

Have one if you like, but you won't because you know the result.

But that isn't happening. The whole point of posting the poll is that it paints a very different picture to previous polls where youth enthusiasm for monarchy was greater. The British Social Attitudes survey has been going for 40 years. Support for the monarchy has shown a consistent decline, albeit with a few oscillations.

My case for the monarchy couldn't be simpler - I like it.

That isn't a case, you bell. That is just saying you like something. As I said before, you won't be able to explain why because for you it is purely reactionary reflexiveness.

But it's OK to call people "brainless" isn't it? (your words), so why object when that epithet is directed back to the originator?

Besides, you are so frigging dim that you are accusing Xipe of not understanding English, when it was you that replied to him. I then commented that YOU hadn't understood HIS point, which, by the way, you still don't.

Let me explain it to you. The monarchy was not chosen by the British people. It was imposed on them.
