Dame Kelly Holmes is Gay.
No way! I never saw that coming.

I thought everyone knew she was gay. She presented the medals at the Tonbridge Well half marathon about 10 years ago. It didn’t need the detective work of her great great grandfather Sherlock Holmes to work it out.

This just isn’t news, but I’m pleased she feels happier now and I hope it makes others see there is no stigma or shame in it.

I'm glad she has felt able to 'come out'

I am rather puzzled about the relevance of the Tonbridge Wells half marathon - is that famous (although clearly not to me) as a pro gay/LGBTQ/somethingelse event??

It is sad that she has felt she couldn't before now

It’s just a fun run. The reference is I was there receiving a medal and whilst it’s a huge generalisation to base sexuality on appearance it was fairly obvious to me that she was a lesbian.
It surprised me that she was still in the closet, I thought everyone knew.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
Much as we might want it not to be news it is. She was at school during section 28. She was in the military during the ban on gay people serving. Aldershot in the 90s was not exactly queer friendly. It's quite a big deal.

People still face hostility and prejudice due to their sexuality. Much as we'd like that not to be the case it does nobody any favours to not acknowledge those difficulties. Coming out is IMO still a brave thing to do, and for a role model such as Kelly Holmes to do so will hopefully provide comfort and strength to those who still feel they need to remain closeted, for whatever reason.

Bring on the day when it's not news, but I don't think we're quite there yet.

Shock news!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-suffolk-65792750

After removing a wall to sell off a Banksy mural, the people who own the property have decided not to leave it open plan so that everyone can look at the wall insulation, or to remove the inner wall in favour of living like cave dwellers, but intsead they have...

put a new wall in.
A builder said "the wall was a bit knackered anyway, so a new one won't hurt".

In other news, following a minor car crash, the driver is said to be having the car repaired.

Not much happening, they have to report something, until the next "Schofield" provides some fodder ;)

I wonder, will this be "it" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66140356

If it can be timed correctly, this should be able to keep all kinds of nasties out of the news, War in Ukraine, War in Sudan, Partygate, Interest rate rises, etc, etc will all be relegated to the small print.

Looks like it will be the next Schofield, particularly if, or more likely when, the alleged buyer of the pics is revealed.

Just to manage expectations, these stories can end in disappointment when the celeb is named as some bloke who read the regional news on the weekend late shift.

The BBC story does mention a 'star' and a 'senior presenter' so hopefully this story will come up to snuff.

Is that rhyming slang or did I miss something about FB having problems with his follicles..

I had it in mind he once wore a hairpiece, but could well be wrong about that.

What?, not even Saville?

In this particular race to the seedy bottom Saville wins because few, if any, of his victims consented, and many were children.

Bough, by comparison, was a pillar of the community because all of his mucky and druggie activities were among consenting adults.
