See, a real troll would either state that
1) locomotive serial numbers are daft
2) that they've been incorrectly numbered...
Well what kind of number is this?

Aw, you’ve just informed him that he is wasting his time. Wonder what he’ll do to compensate.
He hasn't changed in 16 years. Most people fall off very high horses. It's just that some try to get straight back on.
Well what kind of number is this?

That was the second 'Deltic' prototype, hence the number.
That said, I think it actually had a class 50 engine, despite the 'Deltic' (class 55) bodyshell.
It was written off in an accident at... Thirsk... I think, in 1967.
Someone on the forum once claimed to have been on that very train as a kid, but I can't remember who it was now.

That would explain a lot! 🤣Was it @First Aspect ? 😜
I did wonder, hence why I brought it up.That would have been me.
To be fair, the original Deltic had such a nice paintjob that everyone knew what it was anyway.DP2 was English Electric's Development Prototype 2. Their DP1 was the original Deltic, though it never carried that number.
There waiting for the train and it turns out to be a couple of class 318s, which are now fast approaching 40. A good 15 years older than @First Aspect's Cross Country Voyagers
Please excuse the crappy pic:

I have noticed the distinct absence of the magatroll from the discussion about him.
Yes, he never responds to any mention of it which suggests a level of self awareness usually absent from a troll. This might lead one to suspect (along with the completely sensible posting on CC) that it may well be a bit of an act, in part at least.
