It looked like a set-up.

Zelensky took the bait, but ultimately this is probably a good thing because anyone who isn't a MAGAtard just saw exactly what Trump and his coterie of ghouls actually are.

Trump doesn't realise it yet, but yesterday he lost. Badly.

Even US Conservatives are realising it

You didn't realise he was a tough businessman

Only in the eyes of the liberal lefties. They were already lost, so no loss.

The comments from the right are Trump is not messing around and Zelensky needed to be told. Unfortunately it was aired live. Great entertainment 👍

What has the poster said that is inaccurate? Just because it comes from one side or the other matters not if what they are saying is accurate.

This from CNN interview with Rubio

Another more insightful interview

Zelensky isn't yet ready to discuss peace.

God alone what King Charles must feel about doing this. I imagine he isn't breathless with excitement.
I agree but Starmer seems to want to bend over for Trumpty ad-infinitum.

At some point (probably already past) Europe has to decide US is over from being any sort of "ally" and focus on what it needs to do to restructure. It will hurt, it will cost but it's beyond our control and happened so we need to just get on with it and stop focusing on Trumpty. If Trump turned round tomorrow and said "Just joking, fooled you" would anybody believe him?

It will take time but we are lucky in that right now Russia does not represent a threat outside Ukraine as they've demonstrated their limited abilities and they will also need time to recover and rearm.

There is money available without increasing taxes ey Drax burning wood have just announces £1 bn profits "The profits are largely built on the billion-pound subsidies given to Drax for burning biomass" ... there's a bn already.

Listening to commentators (US and others) there seems a reasonable chance it was setup because Trump has realised Putin will demand more than Ukraine could ever accept and Europe will side with Ukraine. Thus Trump needs it to fail and yesterday's performance was trying to pass the blame to Ukraine.

Maybe Macron & Starmer were the catalysts when they made it clear Ukraine needs to be involved and agree to terms, there needs to be a backstop so Trump started looking for "a way out".

Or maybe just that Vance doesn't like Ukraine (hasn't for ages). The MAGA fan-staff seem to be making all sorts of mad claims about what is happening in Ukraine. And one commentator (BBC Newsnight) pointed out that when Vance was saying he has seen what's going on he held his hands in a landscape hone position ie seen on the internet/Twitter (with obvious accuracy "constraints) not rewatched to check myself).

There's a bit of evidence to support this (muted criticism of Israel), but that's about it. I think calculations are being made and they will hinge around best possible outcomes for UK.

We don't know what was the substantive content of Starmer and Trump's meeting, but it looks like Starmer didn't get what he wanted on Ukraine, but he did not get rebuffed on other issues.

Starmer is hosting a large meeting with European leaders and Zelensky tomorrow, but he is also seeing Zelensky today. There is no point antagonising Trump openly even though the meeting will essentially undermine Trump on Ukraine. Starmer knows that there will be a crunch point where he has to confront Trump.

ps. it was very obviously a set up.

They set up a bear trap for a Trump / Putin extortion racket work half a trillion dollars. That's 'the deal' that Trump is referencing.

They (Putin & Trump) have an agreement to rape a war torn country. Putin, Trump, Vance, Musk and others are enemies of peace. We must hope that the American people come to their senses. They can start by giving Trump his third impeachment and throwing him in jail.
