No - my current theory is that he feels great every time he manages to push things beyond boundaries and get away with it
I see it as him feeling great when everybody is talking about him, when he's the centre of public attention. Narcissism.

And we're already seeing the signs of this conflicting with Trump. When he started bitching about the AI Business Consortium Trump announced. He was making very public high profile criticism of something Trump had associated himself with. Trump will have noticed and will remember ...

Very worrying speech from what I can tell

Yes - we can;t blame the current generation of Germans for what Hitler did

but that does not mean we should just forget it
and it certainly does not mean that we should forget the lessons from it all

I notice he didn;t do his "Roman Salute" when he was in Germany - they might have had a more memorably reaction to that sort of display!

Call Musk anything you want, he is an arseh*le and deserves it, but anyone can see from the way he was jumping around on this stage and previous stages with Trump that he is a physically awkward clutz. It was not a deliberate Nazi salute but a crap attempt at acknowledging the crowd. I have no sympathy for him but can recognise that this is a (sometimes) deliberate misinterpretation by those who dislike him and his closeness to Trump.

The more I have read about Musk recently the more I think I may have been trying too hard to be fair to him.

I think you probably were. I think he knew exactly what he was doing.

And it is all in the context of Trump's signalling to the fascist mob. "Very fine people", "big protest on the 6th" etc etc

The best quote I heard about Musk is from Cory Doctorow - Journalist, science fiction writer and coiner of the term "enshittification" :

"Whenever I think about Elon Musk I feel some personal responsibility because there is a kind of cadre of tech billionaires who've read our dystopias and mistaken them for business plans."
