There's a hundred pictures of public figures doing the same gesture, and with not even the hand on heart precursor, so it's pretty clear the 'Nazi salute' is your uncharitable interpretation.

A still photograph is not the same as a video. Part of the trajectory of a wave can involve the arm being at the same angle as a Siel Heil salute. But Musk's salute was not a wave. It was identical to a Sieg Heil, but for the touch of the breast at the start.

There are not "a hundred pictures" of public figures "doing the same gesture" because a still does not capture the full gesture.

There is a reason why neo-nazis have recognised and welcomed Musk's salute, and Jewish leaders, including former ADL head, have condemned it.

Interesting how for some people criticism of Israel is evidence of antisemitism, but actual well recognised antisemitic tells are excused.

See also the trans hate community lining up crowing over Trump's EO on trans gender issues, gradually aligning themselves with actual fascists, but in denial to themselves and others that they are.

Entirely predictable, of course, and falling straight into the trap of the far right.

There are many videos of er the political opposition doing the same gesture as Elon Musk. I posted Tim Walz almost identical chest tap and arm out action.

Because he's woke, left wing, it's lovely.

🤣

What, biological fact and and meritocracy criteria for employment

Hardly radical, common sense, to anyone with an ounce of it 😉

I suppose I wasn't surprised when the bitching started. US Business Consortium announced massive investment in AI and those not involved start bitching
(re: Stargate, a $500bn project to be funded jointly by OpenAI, Oracle and Softbank)
Major tech moguls had their claws out for each other on Wednesday, hissing at their rivals over enormous pledges to invest in AI that had been announced by Donald Trump the day before.
...
Another notable absence was Elon Musk – the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and xAI; the richest person in the world; and a Trump ally – who reportedly has an office in the White House. The evening after the announcement, he declared Stargate a financial farce.

When OpenAI wrote on X – Musk’s social network – that it would “begin deploying $100bn immediately”, Musk responded: “They don’t actually have the money” and followed up with another jab: “SoftBank has well under $10B secured. I have that on good authority.”
...
Musk went further. He retweeted an image of a crack pipe with the accompanying tweet: “Leaked image of the research tool OpenAI used to come up with their $500 billion number for Stargate.” He spent much of Wednesday afternoon sniping at Stargate.
(from https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/jan/22/trump-ai-investment-tech-ceos)
Says a lot to me about Musk's character.

And look at this section of Trump's Executive order on gender:

Which means that this:

...is "a person".

Do the transphobes realise that the Trump order they are cheering on contains definitions designed purely to further the anti-abortion agenda?

They are literally acting against the actual hard-fought rights of women in their weird pursuit of some fantasy threat.

And we told them this is exactly what would happen.

Abortion legislation is a state issue not federal. Each state decides their policy on abortion

But will his fawning little fückwit acolytes have the guts to do the same?

Except it was nothing like, arm bent and palm up, waving.

But you posted it in a tweet, which is now blocked by lots of people. I had to paste it into an anonymiser to check it didn't show a Nazi salute. I bet most didn't comment on it because they didn't bother. And they were right.

I don't know why people here are prevaricating. German newspapers call it what it is: https://www.zeit.de/kultur/2025-01/elon-musk-hitlergruss-amtseinfuehrung-donald-trump

Not the best analogy. Hitler was a career politician rather than a business man. I'm not aware of him sponsoring or being associated with the sales of any products, other than swastika armbands and sales of those went through the floor after a few short years.

It's a pretty good analogy. If you wanted to make money in nazi germany, you had to be in the party, and you had to be chummy with the right people in the party. Of course big money has been in charge in the US forever, it just hasn't been so blatant before. Trump said he was going to clean up the swamp, but his cabinet IS the swamp

Not the same - his hand was vertical in a normal wave

the Nazi salute is well know and Musk was doing it perfectly
the video you posted of Walz was doing a different gesture

I know they are similar - but the difference is important and is very well know to be

I have no douby Musk knew what it was and did it deliberately

and I did see the video and not just the image - first thing I did after I saw the original report was look for a video
it was a Nazi Salute

clearly other opions exist - but that is mine

Does Musk's response to his Sieg Heils, accidental or otherwise, ring true of a man who is shocked that people might think he was Sieg Heiling? He doesn't seem to be trying very hard to deny it.

No - my current theory is that he feels great every time he manages to push things beyond boundaries and get away with it

might call it "owning the Libs" or something
anyway - putting one over on people who want to put rules around him so stop him doing anything he wants

the further he is allowed to go the further he will go

Possibly Trump if letting him run to normalise this sort of thing so he can do things that are also "beyond" but in comparison with Musk they don;t look so bad

dunno about the last bit but it is a theory

eitehr way - I don;t think Musk is well
