Although I only really dipped into this, it was a good watch:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001ttrx/putin-vs-the-west-at-war-1-invasion

Some people come across as pretty worthwhile states[persons], some as fools. And some as people stuck in the middle of something very difficult. But it's almost always interesting looking back with hindsight, and watching the interplay of media, politicians and generals.

Also, somewhat sobering looking at footage of destruction, war-torn UKR cities, bodies everywhere ... and then thinking how much worse Gaza looks now :-/

Guy may be dead before the ballot though mist likely he will just be barred from standing. The other option is a corrupt election.

'She said Nadezhdin’s bid would probably be rejected when he submits his signatures to the elections commission in the coming days. Blocking Nadezhdin’s run “is not a problem for the Kremlin”, she said.'

Any legitimate threat to Putin is usually last seen walking the plank off of a tall building.

I doubt Putin would dare have an election this time round. Whilst few dare speak up, it would certainly be a vote to end the insane war.
He always wins with 97% with his opponents often soon after suddenly being accused of corruption, and or having an incident that causes them to fall of a high building, or unexpoectingly getting novichock in their dinner.. i mean just a few picks but standing up for election against Putin in general isn't a good choice if you want to live long...

And i don't think Putin is worried for some reason..

Not strictly true. Apparently there is an official opposition candidate, but one that seems to be Putin tolerated if not approved, presumably on the basis that his loving electorate won't vote for the guy (or at least if they do, the totals published won't match the ballots). Can't have it looking like a dictatorship you see...

Yes ok, in the grant scheme of things they do pretend to be democratic and such, so my description was a bit of a ''Putin politics for dummies'' with all the layers left out.
But indeed they have a whole institution around it to make it look like Putin's authority is actually earned not given. But as long as we at least understand it's just as real buying an house in the Crimea is an good investment.

Very convenient if a large number of "dead" voters results in disqualification of another of Putin's opponents.

Not saying I told you so...but

Carlson says to himself 'how the hell did I end up here. Best keep my mouth shut'
Well if you have watched(parts) of his other interviews you see he isn't what you call giving his interviewee hard questions, and in this regard you can assume that every question he asks is scripted, just as the whole interview.
