I'm kind of surprised on your take here. Or has @Milzy hacked your account?
I think you'll find I make my own opinions...as I said earlier.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's fake/set up m
I care little either way,I wouldn't normally bother but it's become such a big thing I did watch.I couldn't really give a feck for either of them.I still think it's probally been staged, looked odd the way he "slapped" him.Almost like he was expecting it.

Lots. Someone I know told me all kinds of stuff about conspiracy theories. I laughed them out of the building & called them David Icke. Tin foil hatter etc. Then a lot but not everything came true. He told me about mass inflation coming after Covid which would be globally manufactured.
Back onto will Smith. In Hollywood there are people who get dirt on the rich & famous to manipulate & black Mail them. People like Smith could end up selling their souls to the devil so to speak. Rock & Smith have been mates for a very long time. Pfizer are supposed to be releasing a new drug for the non life threatening hair loss condition. People are so vain it’s big money. The more times you play it back the more it looks staged.

How many "slaps" have you seen filmed in slow motion? Any verified real ones in slomo to compare this with?

I'm fully aware that you form your own opinions, which is totally fine. Everyone has that right,

My opinion is that you're wrong about this being staged.

As i asked previously in the thread, what possible reason could anyone want to have staged this?

I'm at a point now where I'm pretty much sure everything you post is just trollish nonsense.

But I'll indulge you, because I am bored.

What possible reason do you think this was staged for?

It's not like Chris Rock, Will Smith or Jada Pinkett-Smith need the publicity.

And for all his cultivated "nice guy" image, it's not like Will Smith is looking to create some "tough guy" persona - he's literally in a film called 'Bad Boys' and played Muhammad Ali (other examples are available).

And it wasn't some weird publicity stunt to raise awareness about alopecia, which has barely been mentioned in the aftermath.

And the Oscars hardly need the publicity, if anything this has detracted from the event; and regardless of how you view them, they are essentially the World Cup of cinema and meaningful to a lot of people in different ways.

So what is it then? Why was it staged?
I probably agree with everything you've written, but the first line alone would have done it for me.

Well in some ways it is staged.

Even if not premeditively arranged between him and Rock.

Once he'd said t he was anticipating a reaction.

Smith is acting out a performative 'take that you cad' role.
Playing what he sees as his part in 'defending the honour' of his woman, through the use of violence.

That's the narrative he's operating under.

Maybe acting out to try to resolve the childhood trauma of seeing his mother abused

And this is how the cycles of violence continue.

Like @AuroraSaab I'm really troubled by the idea that 'loads of women' are turned on by the idea of a guy doing that 'for them'..

When we know that anyway it's not really for them it's about hurt male pride , and posturing..

It all just perpetuates toxic ideas of 'masculinity' which feeds into more ideas of 'justified' violence.

That's why this incident is important because it brings up those issues
Not the minor 'showbiz' event itself.

So yes staged in those terms of 'acting out'.

What possible reasons? To get everyone’s attention. Maybe a reason they don’t want us to know about. The world is full of trickery & fake more than ever in modern times. Maybe social media just makes it seem worse & it has always been that way.

Best stay away from it then if your powers of discernment are so feeble*

They already had everyone's attention
Showbiz figures at a glitzy award ceremony..

Someone did a really poor taste joke at the expense of someone else's medical condition.

Then someone else lost control of themselves, over that , and did some inappropriate 'retaliation'.

That's the bare bones of it.

* It's great to have an 'open mind'
But don't let it be so open, that your brains fall out 👍🏼

It doesn’t stop him being outraged though.
Am I?

Not seen me complaining about the government or Brexit or any of the other topics that seem to get up your wokey noses.

Back on topic though, why does anyone on here care about 2 celebrities shaking their handbags at each other?

I would have thought you would be more concerned about the 140k goodie bags each nominee got, allegedly?

You are joking?
Nope.
I'd be reasonably confident you're talking about this thread, but there's lots of different topics in it, it's meandering plenty around it's central theme.
So what should we not care about,

Male on male violence?
Celebs?
Machismo?
Fake news?
White knighting?
Domestic violence?
The Oscars?
Will Smith?
Chris Rock?
Alopecia?
Pinkett Smith?
GI Jane?

etc, etc.
