Probably to make up for Gordon Brown knocking 3% off the basic Income Tax rate ?

We can argue all day long about who's good and who isn't.
But you'd lose since your team are already too far behind. It's like the season still has three games left but you're ten points from safety and you haven't realised.

Thing is, I don't care but it appears some on here do?

The funny thing is, as sh*t as you think the Tories are they keep getting elected so who has won the League?

...a bent, undemocratic, bullshit electoral system where 43% of the popular vote can deliver an unassailable 80-seat majority.
That'll be the team who gets to make and change the rules which say whose goals count & whose don't.

You may or may not be aware Your Boys are re-drawing boundaries to give themselves even more of an unfair advantage, and introducing entirely unnecessary voter ID legislation which they know very well will disenfranchise people who do not vote Tory.

Yes, it's interesting how the party of personal freedom wants Voter ID, to repeal the human rights act, the right to suppress protest and curtail civil liberties etc.

Why not just put the 3% back on Income Tax instead of increasing a more regressive double-taxation rate?

VAT was introduced by the Conservatives at 10% in 1973, reduced to 8% by Labour in 1974, increased by Conservatives to 15% in 1979, increased by Conservatives to 17.5% in 1991, temporarily reduced to 15% by Labour in 2008 and increased by Conservatives to 20% in 2011.

Surely even the most die-hard Conservatives supporter can see an indefensible pattern there?

We can argue all day long about who's good and who isn't.
Thanks.

Smoke and mirrors. "We are the party of low taxation" "look at how low your income tax is". Thus you raise tax by creating *other* taxes. You then have the argument that you don't *have* to pay VAT unless you are buying luxury goods (for example).

How do I know?

Are we taxed more now under Labour when every type of tax is taken into account, I don't know?

We did this on the other side remember, I agree with ID cards.
