According to my maths, that means only 4million claimants, suggests, to me, lots of people who could have claimed, haven’t. Fabbers is not alone.

To be fair it's not well advertised....
And if it means having to go back to filling-in a Tax Return to claim £125, they can keep it....

A significant part of my working week was from home for over a decade. I had no idea this could be claimed until my brother told me. I claimed it for the most recent tax return.

Just a note, I think you arrived at the 4M people based on £125 cash coming back. I have never been entirely clear whether the £125 is actual cash in yer pocket or £125 added to your tax allowance. I just filled in my tax return and let it whirr away and calculate for me.

They give me the impression that she's neck deep in it, particularly the first, she's lying, she has to lie, and she knows she's about to be caught hook, line and sinker.
I wouldn't put it past Johnson to throw her to the wolves, she's his nearest challenger, and he's got something on her.

Or, I'm reading too much in to it all and this is just the demenour of someone who has been promoted waaaaayyyyyy beyond their abilities.
She seems to have aged about 10 years in the last few weeks.
She clearly isn’t cut out for the life of constant lying that is required of a current minister. That level of deception takes years to master.

She needs a bit of pampering, perhaps a nice meal out, or a bit of time somewhere sunny and fingers crossed for an upgrade on the flight.

Yes, I did base it on £125 coming back, rather than £125 allowance.

I worked from home for last 15 years of my working life. I wonder if I am due a windfall? ;)

So are we now saying that the Met should have chosen not to investigate on the entirely political basis that their choosing to investigate might work to Johnson's advantage?

So Dick spends months refusing to investigate the parties...then as the report is about to be published she then decides they will investigate ?
Dick shouldn't even still be in her job,I'm not sure who I have more trust in Johnson or Dick....tough choice.

Forgive a naive question but I’m confused.

I don’t understand how publishing the report can prejudice any potential trial for breaches of covid regulations. Wouldn’t such a low level crime be a matter for a magistrate rather than a jury, and hence they would not be capable of being swayed by prior information?

Let’s pretend for a moment that the Met are doing more than simply giving Johnson a leg up. Might it indicate that they are considering more serious charges along the lines of misconduct in public office?
