Listening to her is like a nail down a blackboard. She is relentlessly patronising.

What did strike me about that interview is she went straight for the Arsene Wenger approach. Don't know if it was a penalty, didn't see it from the dugout, he's not that sort of a player.

By this afternoon the replays should be available....

I was listening to Badenoch on the news this morning where she was responding to a question about the above comment (she wasn't there so for all we know it was just a factual statement at that time as obviously that was the point being made). Hearing her speak I realised she's trying to fake a plummy, posh accent for some reason which just adds to her sounding patronising and unlikeable. I guess she was inspired by Thatcher.

See also Truss ^_^

They'd be well advised to consider him as a future party leader once (if) they clear out the dross.
Indeed. Problem is they think they have cleared out dross, with some more ’dross’ to go if they do not want to leave ECHR. They have dug themselves a huge hole to climb out of.
To me this highlights the complete lack of thought within their Party. Pursuing a policy of leaving the ECHR will likely alienate a fair number of the few remaining supporters but won't attract more - those "attracted" by such policies will already be within Faragè's group. Making supporting leaving ECHR a requirement for standing as an MP will further limit better candidates and is in effect treating MPs as "lobby fodder" ie MPs don't represent their constituents but rather do the leadership's bidding.

Problem is maybe worse that Badenoch as replace her with Jenrick and things might even get worse as more extreme policies are forced on the Party. Jenrick won't move until after the next set of elections as he'll (probably correctly) be assuming they'll be a disaster whoever is leader so that disaster will strengthen his challenge.

Maybe Ms Badenoch can take-up the pre-med scholarship offer she got from Stanford (https://www.theguardian.com/politic...mi-badenochs-claim-of-us-medical-school-offer)

Jenrick's already calling Reform the party of socialism and high taxes, so one can assume that Jenrick would be aiming even further to the right of Farage.

Jenrick's only hope of being PM is for Reform to impode. But if that happens it will likely mean that the far right acceptably racist approach he's taking is not popular, so he would not be voted in as leader in the first place.

But good luck to him and his policies of politically appointed judges, and setting minimum acceptable levels of whiteness in society. The more he speaks, the more we learn about him.

In a sense he is right, because Reform just throw out policies that appeal to people, regardless of whether they are compatible with other policies that appeal to other people.

But of course he's also missed the target, because they aren't proposing high taxes, just cake for everyone and low taxes, because who doesn't want that?

Not sure if this or the related thread is the right place.
Listening to World at One today, it seems the Conservatives are trying quite hard to out right Reform.
Jenrick seeking to sack immigration judges who he considers as activist, because they, in his view are pro immigration. And wanting to return to Judges essentially being Government appointed.

It would be interesting to know how many Conservatives actually support his views.

Getting to the point where a %age figure would be a bigger number than the actual numbers of people.

eg 40% supporting it but with only 50 members that would only be 20 members (40 being a bigger number than 20)
