Not me, if they follow the appropriate procedures.

How terribly British.

Appropriate procedures must be adhered to.

I've never understood the criticism of people being accused of acting 'inappropriately. Why not say it like it is e.g. behaviour is sexist, violent, bullying etc, etc.

Me either, we are in agreement, but, I am not sure what that has to do with emigrating to another Country?

I am intrigued. When you travel abroad, say on holiday, do you normally have a valid passport, do you show said passport, if required, do you obtain a visa, or complete an electronic entry form?. If you take your car, do you ensure Insurance is valid for the Country being visited, do you ensure your driving licence is valid to drive there... etc etc, or, do you just sneak passed the Passport Control, and enter the Country without regard to their entry requirements?

Well if you've got a relative there you could ask them, or even look it up.

I've spent a bit of time in, and even have friends in the north east, and I know for a fact that search engines are available there.

A cursory glance at any news outlet would show you who is allowed to move to another country to seek opportunity, and who isn't.

Why would I wish to do that?, I have no desire or intention of emigrating there.

In addition to relatives how have more recently emigrated there, I think, I may have some relatives who went there on a sort of prison exchange scheme, but, that was in the early 1800s

Depends on what mood I'm in, Mr Literal.

I've never gone abroad in a dinghy, or in the back of a lorry. Nothing inappropriate like that, perish the thought..

I hope I'm not too nicely British.

Actually, I am British, as the documents show, but don't really relate to it as much as Welsh. Not straightforward from a mongrel origined family.

Not many of us who can absolutely certain we are not a mongrel I would suspect.

Yes, it is a while ago now, but, I have had a few "speeding encounters" in France. This was before the proliferation of "Safety Cameras". I aways found the Gendarmes quite sporting. On one occasion, when pushing it to catch a ferry, French Traffic cop caught up, I slowed, he over took, and, a message was illuminated in rear window of Police Car reading (in English) "the speed limit is 130kph".

I am now a well behaved tourist ;)

I got a €90 fine in France a few years back. I was going down a country lane in the back of nowhere. Suddenly a guy in black combat atire jumped out into the middle of the road and pointed what to me looked like a machine gun straight at me. This was his speed gun telling me I was doing 20kph over the limit. I was then escorted by armed police to a cash point to pay up.

The pastis was on you, that evening 😉

All police are armed in France, so nothing special about that. My understanding is that the same happens in Spain if you get a ticket from the traffic police and don't have an address in Spain.

Clearly, not as "sporting"as they used to be ;)

I have had similar treatment in Czech Republic, for, unwittingly, not having a carnet to use the motorway. We started with a fine of £100 (equivalent), but, I talked my way down to £10 (equivalent) and no paperwork ;)
