There's a difference between having to adjust criteria to keep the model viable and the change in VAT status being a existential threat to the sector... and I say that as someone who obviously has a personal interest in it.

I think the bigger elephant in the room is the viability of the university sector - a bit of a perfect storm.

Of course there will be consequences of some sort and magnitude, and you're right that we won't know the bigger picture for a year or two, even if it's not currently looking apocalyptic.

I think we have said this before, but that is where people seem to struggle. Perception of innocence or guilt is immaterial. It is whether or not the evidence presented is sufficient to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Like you, I suspect we may end up at a point where a court of appeal says it is not, in this case.

Good point. My knowledge of legal process is limited, I don't know where the line is drawn on retrials, acquitals/overturning convictions and so on.
