"Muslims and migrants are not the only groups targeted in posts endorsed by Marshall, however. A post he retweeted in February appeared to group homosexuality with “worshipping satan, evil [and] corrupting children”, referring to the other side as “demons”, while in January he “liked” a post from RadioGenoa that lauded Hungary’s autocratic leader Viktor Orban as a “true leader” for his anti-migrant and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric"

Academy trusts, all the drawbacks of private schools with none of the benefits.

Main one is lack of accountability.

What?

You clearly don't know what regional schools commissioners are.

Academisation was brought in precisely in order to make schools more accountable, because LEAs were not tackling poor performance.

They will save DW's (alleged) £600k salary so that will keep them going for a bit. That seems an astronomical sum for someone most people have never heard of. Laurence is having quite the week, and it's only Tuesday.

This move to online only broadcasters does pose a threat to ofcom.
At some point soon they will have to work out how to police this new media, including podcasts, YouTube and overseas content.

As you can basically post any old shite at the moment and no one can stop you.

It did occur to me that the move online may be to avoid ofcom's scrutiny. Especially given that ofcom seems to have finally grown a spine wrt gbeebies.

Not sure they can police non UK content in any way other than going down the Chinese route and banning the platform altogether (eg Instagram).

I think advertiser pressure to be responsible would be one brake, but with a subscription model you don't even have that much.

I think online news will bring an end to many smaller broadcast news providers as the cost to set up and run must be far smaller. Might be similar to the reduction in print magazines/papers as content moved online.
If you're offering a news channel you need to offer more than an online platform does. I'm not sure they do anymore.

TV news is withering, online is where small independents news outlets are flourishing. Low overheads, local news, no restrictions as such
