Ah yes. The myth of parents wanting to trans their children.

As opposed to parents acknowledging that something is wrong with their child and seeking care.

And as per Arse's cartoon, infants pretty much walked into a booth and came out instantly changed forever.

Weird how the culture war bigots have to distort reality in order to make it something they can get angry about.

At least it isn't Jews they are getting angry about, or people with brown skin.

I think this pretty much sums it up for me on a broad level.

The idea that being transgender is somehow forced upon anyone is an absolute myth.

No doubt there'll soon be some compelling evidence that Trans Coercion Camps are being set up around the world by shady cabals to turn all our children into freaks who'll probably, maybe, just grow out of it and discover they're gay instead of they'd been left to their own devices.

Until these places are shut down we'd best be wetting our panties about minority outliers on the fringes of evidence and extremism whilst posting stupid cartoons and pretending to care about rights.

Alternatively, we could accept that being transgender isn't just a phase to be grown out of for a lot of people. It's a real and lived existence which some of us have genuine knowledge of: I know a extremists on both sides, but the majority of trans/non-binary people I know inhabit that lovely grey area where we'd like to just be left the f*ck alone, ta.

You said you believe children need boundaries to be set, where you have none yourself - just lying incessantly.
Can you elucidate where @CXRAndy has been trying to deliberately deceive you or why you think his statements are deliberately false.
Personally I have no doubt that he believes what he says, and is posting things that he believes to be true.

Disagreeing with someone is not the same as lying.

I agree with you that the GB News headline is clearly a lie made up for clicks.

Scottish primary schools appoint children as young as FOUR as 'LGBT Champions'

It's probably based on the notion that the youngest children in primary are 4. The article itself obviously says no such thing.
For me the most unlikely thing is that any primary school has between £850 and £2000 to spend on joining LGBT Youth Scotland's charter.

The truth of the article would appear to be that the organisation does exist, and those forking out the cash have to appoint minimum two pupils and two teachers as LGBT champions.

Andy's point seems to be valid that LGBT Youth Scotland really needs to take a good hard look at itself as it's really quite irrelevant to primary school.

I can. What you believe is a matter for you Iain.

Do you really think that he actually believes that children have been receiving genital reconstruction surgery in the UK? Or that this has been against their will because parents are followers of fashion? Perhaps be the one to tell him he is talking bollocks?

Yes he is a gullible fool for conspiracy theory, posts the most wild claims imaginable, but also tells us he does it for a laugh - now is he doing this on purpose or not? You decide for yourself.

Did you bother to check to see if LGBT youth do actually promote equality champions in primary schools in Scotland or did you just choose to roll with it?

I'm not a trans activist by any stretch of the scrotum but fools like you push me close sometimes.

Yes, but I don't think he is lying. That's the point.

No, but that seems to be the most likely nugget of truth in the GB News story. Usually there is a small nugget somewhere which the nonsense is built around. Looking at their brochure it seems I am correct. They are selling their courses for the amounts quoted, and the courses are available to primary and secondary school.

The disingenuous bit is that no school has to sign up. It's entirely voluntary and must be paid for. It's highly unlikely that any primary school would bother. Thus it is available to primary and theoretically any child in primary could be a champion which is their justification for the clickbait headline.

It's obviously more appealing to secondary and above who want a nice badge to put on their website.

I don't think he does believe all that he says. Like all far right culture warriors, Arse is post-truth. Actual truth doesn't matter.

There's nothing new in this. People like Arse have been erecting fake threats for millenia. Last century it was the Jews. At the moment it's trans people.

Just to deal with this bollock about schools.

Before my retirement I had a long term career in education. I am a former Child Protection Officer.

I was aware of the ongoing changes to guidance in schools and colleges.

Since my retirement the Department for Education put out a document in 2017 ... Preventing and Tackling Bulling - Advice for Headteachers, Staff, and Governing Bodies.

The guidance also sets out legal positions.

Page 4

Who is this advice for? School leaders and school staff in all schools in England.  For the purposes of this advice references to “maintained school” means a community, foundation or voluntary school, community or foundation special school. It also means Pupil Referral Units and non-maintained special schools.  For the purpose of this advice references to “Academy” means Academy schools (including mainstream Free Schools) and AP Academies (including AP Free Schools).  Where particular provisions do not apply to a particular type of school we make this clear. It may also be useful for:  FE and community settings.

LGBT Barnardos: through its LGBTQ Hub, offers guidance to young people, parents and teachers on how to support LGBT students and tackle LGBT prejudice-based bullying

EACH: (Educational Action Challenging Homophobia): provides a national freephone Actionline for targets of homophobic or transphobic bullying and training to schools on sexual orientation, gender identity matters and cyberhomophobia.

Metro Charity: an equality and diversity charity, providing health, community and youth services across London, the South East, national and international projects. Metro works with anyone experiencing issues related to gender, sexuality, diversity or identity

Proud Trust: helps young people empower themselves to make a positive change for themselves and their communities through youth groups, peer support, delivering of training and events, campaigns, undertaking research and creating resources.

Schools Out: Offers practical advice, resources (including lesson plans) and training to schools on LGBT equality in education.

Stonewall: An LGB equality organisation with considerable expertise in LGB bullying in schools, a dedicated youth site, resources for schools, and specialist training for teachers.

These schools that are being complained about are following the guidance from the anti-woke government.

SCHOOLS ARE NOT BADGE COLLECTING.

''Nuggets of truth'' etc be damned.

Free
Metro Charity
Also Free
Proud Trust:
Low (ish) cost membership. Not clear what training costs are offered
Schools Out: Offers practical advice, resources (including lesson plans) and training to schools on LGBT equality in education.
Again free advice. Offers links to other training providers. Low cost membership
Stonewall: An LGB equality organisation with considerable expertise in LGB bullying in schools, a dedicated youth site, resources for schools, and specialist training for teachers.
Offers e-learning at low cost. Slightly dodgy organisation with a lot of infighting at the top level. Promoted Mermaids.

SCHOOLS ARE NOT BADGE COLLECTING.
LGBT Youth Scotland offers an LGBT Charter Accreditation Certificate which lasts 3 years in return for between £850 and £1500, or between £2k and "5.7k for further / higher education. "Accreditation" is not supervised by any independent body but you get a nice certificate and probably a logo you can put on your school website.

Any school using this scheme is badge collecting and has money to spare.

You think that headline and CXRAndy's beef was with the cost? Let's get real.
