Probably looking at the death of Jaguar. Their radical rebranding advert sales have plummeted

Post-Rebrand Sales Collapse: The most dramatic figure comes from April 2025, when Jaguar registered only 49 vehicles in Europe, a 97.5% drop from 1,961 units in April 2024. This has been described as a “near-total collapse” during the rebranding phase.

I know they're going all EV, but will there be anything to launch

WTF has Jaguar to do with gender?

Because Drag isn't blackface? Women are not proscribed from appearing on screen nor prevented from performing.
It's not about blackface or drag displacing the people they perform caricatures of though.

I think you also vastly misunderstand Al Jolson. Noble Sissie in the 1930s said of Jolson - "he was the champion of the Negro songwriter and performer and was first to put Negroes in his shows". He wasn't making fun of people, he was trying to bring black music out of segregation and into the mainstream.
I'm aware Jolson was a supporter of black artists at the time, such as Cab Calloway. That doesn't mean his performing blackface wasn't demeaning. You might be of the view that blackface was ultimately beneficial to black performers, what does drag do for women?

Nothing. It has no relevance to real world women.

It's a caricature; an act.

Drag does f*ck all for women, it isn't meant to.

Funny that performances that are caricatures of other groups, like ethnic minorities, some religious groups, people with disabilities, are now considered regressive, but those that are of women are still just a bit of fun.

Take it up with IanC. He seemed to be suggesting there was some ultimate benefit to black artists from white performers doing blackface. If there was any it came at a very high cost.

Of course drag does f all for women. It's purpose is to use them as a source of mocking derisive humour. Otherwise the drag community wouldn't call drag artists who look more convincingly female 'fishy', ie smells like a vagina. Next you'll be telling me drag's actually a tribute, a heartfelt homage to strong women.

As it happens, I won't.

What I will say though is that you don't know anything about drag.

No - I suggested that Al Jolson's blackface was very different from the Black and White Minstrel show.

This will probably blow your mind but yes, that's true to a point. You see those drag queens aren't interested in women. They are gay.

Not a single person has suggested the men who perform drag are interested in women.

I've just noticed they've started showing The Dick Emory Show again. Wonder if they've edited out the character who's an exaggerated effeminate gay stereotype or if they've kept it in as lovely homage to gay men.

Edit: I reckon they have edited the problematic bits out because they are 40 minute shows now (3 shows on UandEden channel tonight) when I vaguely remember the BBC Saturday night slot being an hour. The listing says 1965 but it looks later to me as it's in colour.
