So you haven't met many evangelical Christians?

The teachings and overall philosophy of the New Testament are based on tolerance and understanding. Unfortunately the populist brand of Christianity is rooted in Old Testament blood and thunder. I don't think Jesus would have approved of how his message has been wildly misunderstood.

My main point though, is that Christianity is as much of an ideology as anything else people care to believe in.

Generally speaking, of any topic on a politics board, this is perhaps one more likely than most to morph into "actual" activism which has potential to affect real-world outcomes; just look at how the FWS victory at the Supreme Court started with conversations on Mumsnet's feminism board. That's an extreme example, but even something as mundane as posting can quietly change minds, which is at least in the foothills of activism.

The common denominator is that they are male, as are 95%+ of all sexual offenders. Which is one reason why we need single sex services of course. Such predators will seek out roles that provide both access and cover for their activities - and it works. Stephen Ireland was both the safeguarding lead for Surrey Pride and solely responsible for carrying the mobile phone that was the group's Helpline contact point for children. Concerns about this and other things were ignored.
