Schrödinger's Hamas. Simultaneously a terrorist organisation hell bent on maximising casualties by using civilians as human shields, and the legitimately elected current government that people of Gaza are stuck with, justifying attacks on civilians by Israel.

If, for 70 years, you beat, imprison, shoot, kill, humiliate and evict a people then what sort of social and political movements do you think will arise?

People like AndyC aren't bright enough to think this through and are highly susceptible to accounts that align with their own racist views. This is why people like Andy think there is something intrinsically malevolent about Palestinians, that they would be resorting to terrorism no matter what circumstances they faced.

Organisations like Hamas, and indeed the Taliban, are products of their environment.

The Palestinian environment is not of their own making or choice. The Israelis created it.

I can at least imagine how it's possible that civilians are not being deliberately used as human shields, I can't justify Israel deliberately targeting them.

Nobody seems under any illusion that Hamas are somehow doing the right thing in this conflict.

It would appear they were elected (2006) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histo...islative election,they were unable to resolve., but, then increased their majority by defeating Fatah by killing them off. Much more cost effective than having pesky elections.

They have concentrated the majority of the 2.3 million people living in Gaza into one corner of that walled camp and are relentlessly bombing the fark out of it.
