They're taking advantage of the fact that the US foreign policy is pretty much paralysed by the forthcoming election. The USA is the only country with the financial and political clout to effectively intervene (if they wanted to).
In not that many days all votes will have been cast at which point actions by the US won't jeopardise any election result.

That said, Biden seems to be going above and beyond when it comes to enabling Israel to do what it wants when it wants and to whom it wants so I suspect things will just continue as at present except without the excuse of needing votes from any particular group.

In the best possible scenario it will take months before the US has a functioning government after the election. By that time there may not be any Palestinians left to protect, even if the US cared.

I was thinking more of if Biden wanted to eg stop all arms supplies for Israel he can't now as he'd probably lose more Democratic votes than he'd gain. But once all votes cast he could next day say to Israel "unless you ... navy leaves, no more arms, etc.". But I suspect the "could" would only happen in a parallel universe.

I agree with you but see end of voting meaning existing incumbents no longer have to worry about gaining/losing votes. Then we'll see their true morals.

Personally, when a population is so oppressed I think that 9 potential "rogue players" out of a workforce of 13,000 should be applauded. If Israel considers such a low level of bad actors deserving of banning the entire organisation, maybe they should be banning the IDF first?

One of Trump's more significant acts last time was to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. I think Netanyahu will be encouraged by the US election result.

This is where Trump is now going to have to undertake some amazing manoeuvres, because he also made promises to Muslim leaders.

But Trump wont become President for several months. As things appear to stand now, Biden can act without worrying about losing domestic votes. He could do "the right thing" and end the human suffering - I doubt he will but he no longer has what some might consider an "excuse" of needing domestic votes.

No he provided a clear stance on the matter, where as the Harris camp didn't

Israel's Defence minister, Gallant, has been replaced by a more hawkish politician. Not a hopeful sign for an end of hostilities or the return of the hostages.

May not be an issue. Overlaps a bit with the Trump election thread but my personal view is Trump is somewhat narcissistic and says whatever makes him the focus of attention and gets everybody talking about him. What he actually does is not constrained by what he says and when he says something he feels no obligation to meet his commitment and in reality never gets held to account (particularly as he can't seek re-election so reneging on commitments wont lose him votes).

Worrying (given how groups of settlers are already camped out on the Gaza border waiting to move in)
Palestinians will not be allowed to return to homes in northern Gaza, says IDF
...
Israeli ground forces are getting closer to “the complete evacuation” of northern Gaza and residents will not be allowed to return home, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has said, in what appears to be the first official acknowledgment from Israel it is systematically removing Palestinians from the area.
