Just been to City Road, a very long multicultural restaurant road, especially middle eastern, in Cardiff. Loads of cars with Syrian opposition flags driving up and down the road tooting their horns.

Big Syrian community there. Lots of Knafeh will be served tonight

Yes, perfect opportunity to wheel out a racial stereotype.

On that note, now that Assad's regime has fallen where are you going to get your Captagon from, Matticus?

I had a Syrian colleague a few years ago. When the thing started back in '11 or '12 he said that it would likely end up like Iraq, and he was right.

Another refugee crisis will likely sweep into Europe as people leave Syria. Any politician who thinks they can control migration is fooling themselves.
I wonder where Shamima Begum is? Last I heard she was in a Syrian camp.

Yep...I don't know if you saw the googlemap i posted yesterday of the huge traffic jam in Lebanon with traffic heading from Syrian border towards Beirut.

I suppose it all hinges on how the insurgent groups treat the Shia, and all the functionaries of the Assad regime.

Nethanyahu must be licking his lips at all of this. Israel is one of the big winners.

At my school, we have about 5 Syrian kids (we're an inner city school) as their parents were refugees from Aleppo. I say were as they now have full residential status here in HK.

I saw two of the parents this morning and the smiles on their faces said it all.

But I do worry who is going to take over as there were, at one point, 16 different factions fighting Assad. Will we see another Libya?

Never heard of it before now - do you recommend it?

And a quick accusation of racism, nicely done. It's like you've never been away! ❤️

It was an obvious dogwhistle, matticus, to the trope that all <insert foreign owned business> are money-laundering tax-evaders.

What it wasn't, matticus, was you expressing curiosity as to whether a long drive to Cardiff would offer you the opportunity to indulge your predilection for only paying in cash

Today on TV reports, the population appear to be cheering and shouting freedom, how many days/weeks before the women lose their rights and freedom? The new leaders speech contained too many references to “god” for my taste.
Nope, but in all fairness, it wasn't exactly free under Hamas either but it's probably going to move to the Taliban direction.
Funny how the "god" word is so often a cause for alarm, whether you are a child, woman or just a man who thinks independently.
Yeah because in those regions you can live freely saying you don't believe in that god right? oh wait..
