That's Netanyahu not the Israeli people, who have mostly favoured a 2 state solution in surveys and polls. You've altered that quote though, haven't you? The article actually says he 'reportedly said'.
That's not just Netanyahu, it's the Israeli government's view.

Also, going to the article you have looked at (not the one I quoted):-
"These exact comments have not yet been confirmed by other sources. But the Times of Israel’s Tal Schneider wrote on Sunday that Netanyahu’s reported words “are in line with the policy that he implemented,” which did little to challenge and in some ways bolstered Hamas’s control over the Gaza Strip. Moreover, Schneider notes, “the same messaging was repeated by right-wing commentators, who may have received briefings on the matter or talked to Likud higher-ups and understood the message.” Some Netanyahu confidants have said the same thing, as have outside experts."

The Israeli government are not the Israeli people anymore than Hamas are the Palestinian people. Do you not think the population on both sides would welcome an end to the cycle of violence?

Even asking that question belies a failure of comprehension.

The Palestinian people have been calling for an end to the violence for decades, Israelis (on the whole) not so much.

Again, what more should the Palestinians give up, and if you absolve Israel of Netanyahu's position you must also absolve the Palestinians of Hamas' position.

As I said above, Hamas should support a complete ceasefire and letting go of their ideological claims. Israel's government to do the same. Without an end to the ideology there will be no long term resolution to the violence. Long term, the negotiation of a 2 state solution.

What's your solution? A realistic solution that both sides could live with even if it's not ideal, obviously.

I think you do a disservice to the Israeli public. There's an active peace movement in Israel.

...and where did that get the Palestinians?

No state, and continued oppression. Why? Because it mattered not to the Israelis. When you are fighting insurgents armed with Soviet-era small arms and homemade rockets, but you have F-35s, ELINT, current generation MBTs, and a missile interception system, you can pretty much do what you like.

True, that is what allowed the Americans to win in Vietnam... wait a minute... they didn't, did they?

Hamas are Hamas. Stop legitimising them as a partner in negotiations and give the Palestinian people a chance to thrive without them.

If you’re comparing the Vietnamese to the Palestinians, note that the Palestinians don’t have the support of a superpower (USSR) and a major power (China) like the Vietnamese did.

Looks like things are intensifying tonight. Reports that a hospital is to be targeted and communications are out. This seems very bad.

Yup warmongers it are, gonna drop a link to prove that: https://www.nobelpeaceprize.org/lau...radually,the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
You see they are so addicted to war they got the Nobel Peace Prize in earlier times. But don't let my insertion stop you from claiming otherwise.. sure as hell don't try to check number that show up until Hamas took control in ''07 around 60% of isreali's was for peace, right before Hamas visited the peace festival and painted it red, just as the surroundings it was still around 30% so you could say that for some reason an ''organization'' that seeks to destroy you isn't very good for peace. on the flip side you also not wrong if you say the Netanyahu government isn't good for peace either.
