Disgusting. IMO both sides have been doing evil to each other for many years. My Muslim friends understandably support Palestine. I’m not really supporting either. I have my theory on what their end game is. If they make supporting Hamas a crime then we are screwed. It means we are just like Russia who shut down anti war protestors by beating them and jailing them.

Near enough every politician and media pundit is saying "the killing of civilians is never acceptable and that's why we must stand with Israel" as it drops bombs on apartment blocks and kills civilians.

As time goes on no doubt fuller accounts willl emerge. Seeing as Hamas murdered an elderly woman then uploaded the video of it to the woman's own Facebook page, do you imagine they are treating kidnapped teenage Jewish girls with kindness and respect? Why shoot dead the young men but kidnap the young women?

The fact that those stories aren't carried out by the mainstream media, even in Israel, should raise some red flags.

Regarding why kidnapping young women? Because it makes a big impact?

Regarding my use of brown and white in my previous post. Jews are, from a genetic point of view, arab, though not culturally arabic. However, there's the perception that Jews are white and "Arabs" are brown. There's also the perception that Palestinians are muslims, when between 5 and 10 percent of the Palestinians are christian (this includes the Palestinian diaspora).

These perceptions help Israel shape the optics of the conflict as seen in the west.

Watching BBC Evening News this evening, there were some very "brown" faces among the Israeli Soldiers.

As I said, it is a matter of perception, not reality. If you ask a random person in the street in Sunderland or Solihull, what do you think they would say an israeli looks like?

Mainstream media have mentioned the allegations, with less detail. I find your insistance that the men of Hamas kidnapped young Israeli women for impact only, and will of course treat them with respect and not sexually assault them .... optimistic.

Bearing in mind Hamas have said they are planning to execute the hostages and show it live, and the accounts coming through of beheaded babies at a kibbutz, I have to wonder quite why you think Hamas operatives would think raping an Israeli woman would be a step too far.
