This is the arrested gent, holding his Private Eye cartoon. I think it's unlikely the police officers would know that was a cartoon joke. They'd just see 'Palestine Action'. It would have been easier if they'd let him show them the cartoon in the magazine he had with him and got a senior officer to decide on the spot whether, as such, it met the criteria for arrest.

I think it takes a particular kind of thick to be unable to tell that Palestine Action in that placard does not refer to an organisation.

...to asses reliability, etc.

My asses are quite reliable, thank-you.

I was thinking about the space needed to keep more than one ass, I wasn't wondering about Ian's anatomy.

You need about 1/3 to 1/2 an acre per ass, ideally.

You'd have to be quite thick to believe Private Eye didn't know about Palestine Action the [now-proscribed] organisation.

Here is what Private Eye say about the arerests/protests:

... latest issue reported on Farley’s arrest, criticising the police’s actions.

It said: “As the Eye wrote in issue 1652: ‘Some will argue that proscribing Palestine Action and extending the definition of terrorism to direct action groups that destroy property but don’t aim attacks at the public - rather than using the current criminal law - is a high price for society to pay.’

“This was before the police decided to extend the definition of terrorism to include people cutting jokes out of satirical magazines that attempt to criticise the hypocrisies of government policy.”
