Speaking for myself (we're individuals, not "Shep" and "everyone else") I am very much a critic of many current and historical government policies. Does that make me anti British? Only to the wilfully ignorant.

I don't know what that makes you and you are quite correct in criticising past and present actions of our country, I just get fed up of the constant downer some people have on this country.

My advice to them is go and live somewhere really sh1t and leave this place for the people who think it's alright.

Nothing particularly special about me.

Just a reasonably intelligent child of educated, and politically engaged parents.

Politics, national issues, and world affairs were discussed quite freely in our house, and community, there were quality newspapers to read, lots of contact with all sorts of people, from all sorts of backgrounds.

What you might call a well rounded upbringing.

Plenty more like me, about the place .

No one on here has claimed to be anti English, or anti British, thats your invention.

Many, if not most on here, are anti what the current government are doing, with good reason.

Only some kind of craven idiot would approve..

But many will have been anti monarchy, pro a more egalitarian, and fairer, more compassionate society, from long before this particular shower, surfed in on a surge of brexit populism..

Cheered on, of course, by the hard of thinking..

How old were you in 1977?

Let's see if your comment stacks up, if mid forties now you were 2!

Thanks for your unasked for advice.

My unasked for advice to you is to open your eyes and see how this country is falling behind due to blind loyalty and unquestioning obedience.

Your depressingly regular reminder that those of us who might have wanted to go and live somewhere else - sh!t or otherwise - are now broadly prevented from doing so because of the pack of corrupt, criminal scumbags you voted for. Do try & remember that tiny detail.

You think I should leave the place I call my home in the care and control of people with your social and political outlook?

Why don't you go and live somewhere with fewer opportunities for moaners like me to upset you? That's a question not a suggestion. If you can answer it you may begin to understand why I'm planning to stay.

Oh those halcyon days of kicking frozen white dug shite down the path coming back from morning swim club . Did often wonder what happened to it

Pinned on a blue rosette and ran for Parliament.

With some success.

I've no issues with the country on the whole, admittedly not perfect but what country is, moaners like you don't upset me because it's not me who has the problem is it?

We have people at work who complain constantly about this, that and the other and I say the same to them "if it's that bad, leave".

A perfect example was this year's pay rise, £1500 across the board which equates to about 3% for us, yet still people moan.

You had how many years to relocate before Brexit kicked in, 6 maybe?

I also believe you lot up there had an opportunity to distance yourselves from us English as well, looks like you dropped a bollock on both fronts.

Get your arse over to a non European country if it's that bad here, how about China, North Korea etc.

Welcome yourself into the new modern crisis
What is so good about this country and why should I love it so much apart from it being, by twist of fate, the one in which I happen to have been born? Seriously, what's so special about it compared to anywhere else?

I shall not be counting it not being literally the worst place to live on Earth as being a sensible answer.

Hmm, looks you're gonna need a little more help ... let me see ...

OK, this might be worth a try. You've got until Thursday to organise the NACA Choir and register for this:

Here’s one for you to have a go at, serf.
