False economy, I might say

If three subsequent posts are then required to clear up the misunderstanding.

The winky to me, in this context, denotes that you're implying something not said.

Or else it could even be seen in some circumstances as a bit patronising.

As if you're taking the piss out of an issue which you know is important to me.

If I don't know what that not said thing is, I will draw my own conclusions.

They may well, of course be erroneous conclusions.

But this ambiguity, is highly likely to arise, when being spoken to, by someone who is not not personally known to me .
Brexit is important to me. I voted remain, rather obviously, I would imagine, that means I didn’t vote for Boris.

I have previously stated the downsides for me. Admittedly, “first world problems” in my case, but, I am aware others (including my grandchildren) will in all probability be even more disadvantaged.

Yes I know you have.

I'm one of those (maybe) rare birds who reads other peoples posts, and retains quite a lot of the information.

I was referring to your ;) about being brief for environmental reasons in this case.

I'm sure it was well meant, but it could come across as a bit of a piss take.

Actually not so obvious...

I voted Remain as the least worst option.

I also voted for Boris as the least worst option.

I’d missed that Labour will not support Electoral Reform…if that’s the case were farked for generations to come :-(
The CLPs supported it 85%, it was scuppered by the trade unions.

It's so frustrating, I'm theoretically massively in favour of being in a union but they repeatedly act against my interests. I'm ditching Unite anyway, and joining the ACB.

I like the concept of Unions, bit fear most are lions led by donkeys. That PR and Unions are not aligned seems like shooting themselves in the foot - something the left seem adept at doing….

Surprisingly sensible view taken by the comrades and brothers.

While I'm on, have we got any character trade union leaders these days?

Seemed to be quite a few in the 70s and 80s, but I'd struggle to name one now.

I'm all in favour of direct language, but oh dear, a supposed academic using the f word hardly inspires confidence.

Or put another way, I wouldn't believe a word Professor Potty Mouth says.

Quit taking the moral high ground Paley, I'm sure you've let off a few F-bombs in your time, as we all have/still do from time to time.

The Prof is saying it as it is. Sometimes the F word does have its place. It does appear that, yet again, you failed to engage with what he says but rather go for the person. Didn't Thatcher say that is a sign of someone losing the argument?

I've used the F word many times, but not in any professional capacity.

General readers will switch off when they see it.

Aside from the profanity, this fellow is telling you what you want to hear, so you like it.
