You think I don't know that many people don't care about the consequences of the brexit they voted for.??

And will avoid taking responsibility for any of the mess that it's made for so many people.

That's bullshit of the very highest order..
Or are you pleased about the trouble it's caused, for no discernible benefit .??

Maybe you are, you do seem to quite enjoy laughing at, or dismissing as unimportant, other people's troubles.

Why you have to come on the brexit thread repeatedly to tell us how little you care, and how little it has affected you, is a mystery to me , is it something to be proud of??

You don't appear to care about much , you lurk on on the politics and current affairs thread just so as to tell us how little you care about any of it..

That's your perogative, just let other people pick up the pieces, and suffer the consequences.

That's just their tough luck right ??

Not your responsibility.

Well done.

He's pure troll , leave him under the bridge. There's no point trying to reason with him because he's not interested. He get's his jollies winding people up and no doubt believes next to nothing that he pots. As long as he gets loads of reactions he's a happy child.

A passing thought: the parties associated with opposing Brexit - Lib Dems and Greens - gained more seats than Labour in this week's local elections. And the party associated with ramming Brexit through were the ones paying for it in terms of loss of seats. Labour, whose Brexit stance could best be described as equivocal, made only modest gains outside London and the south east.

Of course, Brexit has not been a major issue in local elections on the mainland, but it does look as though the fallout is still working its way into the system. The narrative has been more about honesty - ''Partygate'' being the most obvious example - but Brexit is the Über lie of this government and it still hasn't been paid for.

Were already paying for brexit, but this government is never going to take responsibility, that's just not what they do..

Oh for a progressive green alliance to take charge ..

I know a ridiculous dream under our current electoral system, but I can still have a dream right ..??

I wasn't awake enough when I posted; we're clearly all paying for Brexit but the political price has yet to be paid. The government has to be held responsible by other political parties and Lucas and Davey are perhaps better placed to do this than Starmer.

It's all going to hang on making political pacts between Lib-Dems, Greens and Labour. There seems to have been a limited move towards not diluting the opposition parties' vote by standing against each other. This reduces the effect of them all fighting against each other over the scraps while the lion bastards carry off the spoils. It's tentative so far but it can go much further. No, has to go much further!

It feels like it's going to take a massive shift in mentality to get these alliances working.

In some ways we're the victims of the UKs intentionally created 'divide and rule' mentality.

We used that device on the rest of the world with our class / caste based empire building , and of course plundered and profited massively.

Now the ruling classes (and capitalists) do it on our asses...

With the collusion of the rightwing press, it's so easy to make out that us 'progressive green lefties' are the 'enemies' of the working classes..

Even if some if us are quite literally working our asses off, doing green progressive stuff. 🤔👍🏼☘️😊

I'm still trying to digest the results. My own inner London council is all Labour but the vote for our directly-elected mayor saw the Green Party candidate taking 16% of the vote and 20% of the vote for councillors went to Green candidates. That's 2nd place behind the (incumbent) Labour mayor and 2nd place behind Labour/Labour and Cooperative council seats. (20% of the vote equals zero seats, of course.) It's not revolutionary, obviously, but it is a very strong base for the Green party.

Or looking at it another way 'The Greens lost'.

Which is why we need PR .

But apparently that's 'too complicated' for us to get our tiny British brainiums around..

Maybe that's why we had to brexit, those fiendishly clever Europeans were just making us all feel too stoopid..

11 years ago, 68% of people said no to a change in the voting system.
