We could just have a consenus to send the offender to coventry (mass ignore!).
To be honest I have now become bored with jowwy and have put him on ignore. First time ever for an ignore!

In an 'exclusive club' of just two for me..

With occasional 'guest members' now and then, if proving too tiresome..

It's kinda hilarious how someone thinks they can turn up here, and start trying to boss other people around, as to their posting style or frequency of same, answering or non answering of questions, chuck in a good slew of insults, make broadbrush assumptions about other posters and their lifestyles, but then be waayyy too fragile to take any challenge to their own posts .

Anyhooup , better get back to fieldwork now.

Late lunch,

And a late finish I suspect..

If you read Cicero, you'll find that rhetoric is justified and ancient.

That's very curious behaviour isn't it??

Thank goodness we have forums where we can discuss politics, and the world news, and how these all intersect, from the personal to the geopolitical..

Without that we'd all just be putting crosses in boxes, with no idea why -- Imagine!!!

Beyond "He'd probs be a laugh down the pub"

I always thought that labour voters supported those who laboured, and contribute in other ways, and wanted to see everyone get a fair return for those endeavours.

Not sneer at such efforts being towards fair trade, and fair pay, governments making efforts to look after the wellbeing of their citizenry - food and environment being a large contributor to that - and they also wanting progressive taxation , and spend to that end??

Have I got all these aspirations wrong all along,,,??

How disappointing for you.

Living in an area where they weigh the Labour Vote, not count it, I can assure you, that does not match up with those I encounter....

Why not have a referendum on the rules….we know how much the remain voters and scottish love a referendum. Its not best of 3 though, like you all wanted before.:laugh::laugh:

The majority (but by no means all) of my family, freinds and acquaintances would describe themselves as left leaning, liberal, and or socialist, with varying degrees of 'C'apitalisation, and emphasis of those classifications.

If given the chance of a Labour Gov, rather than Tory, they'd vote for it.

Although around these, particular parts it's often more a case of having to vote tactically for whoever is best placed to get the Tories out..
Usually Lib Dem, or occasionally independent.

As just happened in the Tiverton by election .

Such are the problems of having fptp , rather than PR.

They were nearly all remainers too.

I'd say most those people also want to see the majority of the things that I listed in my post. As they are left wing / liberal / socialist aspirations.

What do Labour voters in your area wish to see for society and in the world, or hope that their Labour politicians will deliver then??

Before I start... these are not necessarily my views.

Well, obviously, I cannot say what ALL of them want, but... the area did vote massively in favour of Brexit, so, a "world view" is not high on the list.

There is a very low level of "Political involvement'. Turn out at local election is often less than 30%, General Elections slightly higher, maybe 35%. To most people I encounter, Cars, the price of beer, Football, or Love Island ranks way above Politics.

As I have said before, out of my circle of acquaintances, only one voted Remain. The most common reason given for voting leave was to gain control of our borders and control who we allowed in (not necessarily saying face colour was a factor), British jobs for British workers and all that. Basically, the desire is for "us" to be able to do as we please, but, those foreigners to keep their noses out, and, do as we say.

As for what they want from Government, (of whatever party), they mostly don't mind paying more taxes, provided it is not actually them, paying more, but, it is OK for "the rich or better off" to pay more. Naturally, the "rich or better off" begins just above their pay grade.

Contrary to views expressed on here, I seldom if ever hear any discussion relating to gays, trans, etc etc, I think indifference rather than approval applies here.

There is not a lot of sympathy for the life long unemployed, nor for the "blue badge brigade", except, of course, for deserving cases.

I don't think the people of my area are unique, I suspect similar views would prevail among a similar socio-economic group just about anywhere in UK, or, even within mainland Europe.
