Oops. The Brexit leaving bill goes up by £10billion.
They let that slip out on the last day of parliament.
Who remembers being told that the EU may even owe us money.

Yep, it was PM hopeful Suella Braverman who stated on Question Time that the notion of such a huge bill was ‘Project Fear’ and not to be believed. She also said that we would get a windfall from leaving, so has proved herself to be every bit the lying Tory politician we’ve come to expect.

D'you know what. I'm prepared to credit her with just being stupid and repeating the party line rather than specifically lying.

So what people are really saying is that " their kids can no longer doss around europe on their parents credit cards or wracking up huge debt, so have to get a job in the UK and pay taxes instead"

Huge benefit to the UK right there and to the kids not wracking up debt, will get plenty of work experience and if they work hard they will feel better for it, rather than dossing around europe doing feck all.
No, I think there's only one person saying that.

So you think this country needs yet more insular people unwilling or unable to find out about other cultures, unable to learn another language or different skills and who are less tolerant and understanding of our neighbours and trading partners?

Me spending time living and working abroad meant that my entire career in a multinational company has been pretty easy on the cultural side. In 25 years I have never had a boss based in the UK and never had more than 5% of my reports based here, If I were starting my career now I am confident that there is no way it could be a successful as it has been.

Did anyone say that, apart from you?

In any case, it's much, much easier to learn a language by immersing yourself where it's spoken if you can, and it doesn't have to be expensive. There are exchange programs and all sorts (or at least there were, and hopefully still are).

I have family in Paris, was lucky enough to live there for a few months once I'd finished school, and while I was fluent in French by then, it was much improved by being there.

1. Yes thats what milkfloat is saying and the rest of you

2. So dont need to be part of EU to do that then, can do it through school, college, UNI or by fecking working

3. whats having family in paris got to do with learning languages, learnt them in school.......and it does help when holidaying in spain, but i didnt to be part of the EU to do it.

again flawed examples by the remainer

1. Again, you're putting words in the my mouth.

2. No, you don't, but as has been suggested it helps to be able to immerse yourself fully in the country.

3. Yes, I learnt French at school. And improved it by living with family, so that's what it's got to do with it.

So did you learn Spanish at school? Or some out of a phrasebook to get by on holiday?

3...so you learnt french in school, so didnt need to be in the EU to do that and didnt need to be in the EU to visit family

Absolute bollocks. I learned GCSE french. It taught me very little. I did French exchange for 4 years whilst at school. That taught me all the French I now know. The absolute best way to learn about a country is to live there

In which case I suspect your Italian is terrible. One of the reasons for going to different countries is to expand your worldview, improve your knowledge, learn about different customs, different diets, different ways of living. People who have lived in Europe have a much better world view and much better geopolitical understanding.

People who don't, end up like you Jowwy, pig ignorant and unwilling to listen to any opinion other than your own. You should try learning. It's enormous fun.
