Don’t think it would do him much good behind the red wall either. The only people I have heard bemoaning brexit are on here. All of my leave voting acquaintances (ie all of my acquaintances) are perfectly happy with it! Yes, I agree, unbelievable, but, there it is.
Same,I'm not sure another referendum would even change that ! Nobody I know regrets their leave vote.....now changing to vote Tory that's a different matter !

The opposite is true around here. All Remainers say their decision would be the same, but several Leavers, not a majority, have said that they would change their vote if they could.

The thing that everyone agrees is muddying the waters is whether the various problems are mostly due to the effects of Brexit or covid.

We can but hope they come to their senses

South Wales.

Sadly it is far too late for anyone to regret their choice.

We have to forget about EU membership for many, many years to come and concentrate on making the most of the situation we have, getting rid of this terrible government and rebuilding links with the EU as a good friend and ally. The last two go hand in hand.

Thing is, the Leave majority was so fag-paper thin that it genuinely wouldn't take many changes of heart to overturn it. Add to that the number of EU-positive young people who have reached voting age since 2016, the inevitable decease of (predominantly older) Brexit voters, then the likelihood of a significant majority favouring EU membership becomes pretty much inevitable.

However I think what is most likely going forward, is that within a few years, a more competent and rational UK government (of whatever stripe) will sneakily negotiate an agreement with the EU which includes, at the very least, Customs Union access. With perhaps a Gammon-friendly rebrand, to give the impression 'we' forced a grudging concession out of those dirty Eurotrash backstabbers.

Sounds plausible

Wouldn't that be because to achieve the leave vote success the campaigners had to create a picture of the EU that was just a fantasy?

People who voted to get away from unelected bureaucrats, who thought their country had been 'stolen', could no longer make its own laws, that Britain is still a major world power who haven't revisited the issue to find out what the EU really is have no reason to change their mind. In their minds a govt as bad as Johnson's is better than membership because Britain is now 'free' and 'sovereign' again, and that is all that matters.

Yes, probably.

The "in the history of the world" bit
Is possibly hyperbole.

And could equally, if not more so apply to climate change but..

I still get the sentiment.

I never like the sentiments behind "I told you so" unless it is accompanied by "but admit the campaign for the Remain vote was complacent, not as well orchestrated, or as cynical as that for Leave".

The Leave campaign was a case of "could have, would have, should have............didn't".

Did you mean the Remain campaign?

First thing Starmer has said that I "sort of" like....
Keir Starmer tells CBI on Brexit: "Let me be clear: Labour is not planning a re-match. Brexit has happened and we're not going to rejoin."

He is pretty good at siding with Tory policy, not ideal when you're the leader of the opposition though.

I'm no lover of Starmer as I'm sure you've guessed ! But having anything to do with Brexit at the next election I think will be another disaster.
There again at the moment I doubt I could vote for Labour as it is.

Let's face it, can you see anyone other than the Tories getting in any time soon?

I assume many people think Brexit is a disaster, from reading posts on here, but lots more either don't care or are busy getting on with life. You're f****d basically.
