No, I couldn't afford to lose £600. And effectively giving P&O a cash gift would hardly be a punishment, so I wouldn't think any less of someone who holds their nose and honours their existing P&O booking.

I would encourage them to take their business elsewhere in future, but I imagine anyone with a shred of decency & empathy will already be of that mind.

This is the approach, where possible take your business elsewhere, but why lose money we can't afford to? As there are really only 2 companies doing the Dover/Calais route though, I guess there is a 50% chance I will be using them later in the year, unless I go on the Tunnel.

As ever on here, you have all already made your minds up about my lack of empathy. I am not unempathetic at all,
You could of fooled me 🙄

In reality it is unlikely to cost £600, there is a cancellation policy in place which means that some money could come back
Nope. Unfortunately I booked a saver (non refundable) ticket in March 2020 through a bunch of charlatans called Direct Ferries and then stupidly accepted a voucher. I made the rebooking the day before the story broke (after 5 weeks of back and forth emails), paying the £100 price increase.
In future, I’ll use DFDS, not go through a bargain bucket company to save £30, and go Newcastle Amsterdam. We have all learned a lot about booking holidays over the last 2 years and I’m not going to get my hopes up that this holiday is actually going to happen until I’m wheeling my bloody bike of the damn boat at Europoort. Won’t be using P&O in the future (or Direct Ferries - for different reasons!)

Have you been under a rock for the last 24 months?
That doesn't really answer his questions.
The company has been given millions of pounds to keep it going. The parent company has given millions of pounds to shareholders.
It is somewhat unclear therefore as to why it is suddenly claiming poverty and sacking all British workers.

Surely even you must agree that the messaging is a little contradictory?

I have just pointed out that as it stands currently, nothing illegal happened, and due to most of our current circumstances the company won't be boycotted
Maybe,maybe not

You also keep saying the company won't be boycotted....Don't judge everybody by your standards.

Can you boycott someone you weren't going to use anyway?
Either way, as Adam has just said, if i needed a ferry company, P&O would not be on my list.
No, but you can tell the world you won't be using them, thus virtue signalling your support for the sacked sailors. It is not quite so easy when you have £600 tied up in a ticket though, or if your only option for a family holiday is a cheap Dover/Calais ticket with P&O.

It's another well-off middle class right-on cause. But don't take my word for it, let's see how empty the ferries are shall we?

What does that mean?
That's meant to mean you keep on with the "it's only a middle class, nobody will boycott,it won't affect them"
I'm sure you might be right but I for one,my partner two won't be using them.
If your happy to use them, that's your choice.
