Any one know how many people seek refuge from Rwanda?

2,150 since 2001 according to this article.

"To fly every man that arrived in the UK last year via a small boat would require 112 flights being chartered (based on a standard 189 seat Boeing 737-800) with 151 being needed to fly every person, including women and children, to Rwanda". That's just the folk who arrived on Channel boats, not by other means or visa overstayers.

We all know the women and children won't be going to Rwanda so presumably the idea is to send a few flights full of young men and hope that the deterrent effect means you don't need to book the other 100 flights.

Denmark are also looking into a similar deal with Rwanda apparently.

Why is Rwanda keen to import young men?

Now that would be comical wouldn't it, "I'm seeking asylum in the UK" ,

In 2020, every single asylum application from Rwanda was accepted.

We all know the women and children won't be going to Rwanda

I don't think we do. When asked in the Commons just yesterday, the Home Secretary refused to rule out sending women and children there.

Why only quote part of my post?

Oh wait, because it doesn't fit with what you want to say.

How many people flee the UK seeking asylum?

Can you defend a policy of sending those who wish to seek asylum in the UK on a one way ticket to a country that has people fleeing it for asylum?

It sounds like a pretty good deterrent to me, which we all know is the main aim.

We're yet to see if anyone actually gets sent there.

Why would people flee from the UK, mind you the amount of f**king moaning you lot do about the Government I'm surprised some of you don't get your arses somewhere else.

No. I quoted the part that was relevant.

You responded to Salty Seadog's query about the number of people from Rwanda seeking asylum with what appears to be sarcasm. I'm pointing out that 100% of applications for asylum from Rwanda had been granted. Your sarcasm is misplaced.

Asylum is a vital human right, not a joke or something to be met with a deterrent.

Now that's where you've gone astray, the whole issue surrounds the potential shipping of asylum seekers from other countries TO Rwanda in order for them to be processed.

Do you understand now?

That's not the context of the posts concerned. Here they are below:

A question about the number of people seeking asylum FROM Rwanda.

Any one know how many people seek refuge from Rwanda?

Then your response clearly meant to be an imagined dialogue regarding a person seeking asylum FROM Rwanda.

Now that would be comical wouldn't it, "I'm seeking asylum in the UK" , "No worries mate, stay where you are and if you're successful then you can, well, stay where you are " , "Nice one, I'll just stop here then, result!"

Yes but WHY is that the main aim. Why do we need them to be deterred from the UK?
Don't you think the world would be a better place if we just accommodated people who need help?
Asylum seekers and refugees put more into an economy than they take out. It's financially sound to let them into the country and let them work.
There are no disbenefits other than irrational hatred of skin colour and foreign accents.

I do, I've not heard of people needing to seek asylum anywhere yet due to it though.

Have you?

Not yet. But I was alluding to that other bit - you remember, the bit where every single UK resident was robbed of their right to go and live and work in 27 other countries. So yeah, quite a lot of us might have looked at doing that to avoid having to spend our remaining years in an increasingly backward-looking, increasingly broken, corrupt ruin of a country, and its ruling elite of incompetent, vicious, venal psychopaths.

But a bunch of bigots and morons had a better idea.

I thought our chum didn't approve of people seeking refuge in other countries anyhow.??
