Reform view on migrants backed by ITV Chief Political Correspondent Rylan Clark:
‘’Here’s the hotel, here’s the phone, here’s the iPad, here’s the NHS in reception of your hotel, here’s three meals a day, here’s a games room in the hotel, have a lovely time, welcome’. And then there’s people that have lived here all their lives, that are struggling."

Hopefully he'll get himself cancelled but I doubt it. The fact he felt he could say that stuff openly on TV shows the downward trajectory we're on.

I had to look up who the guy was (but I had seen some video excerpts on TV news) and I think his performance does a lot of damage in that he is "normalising" such views; making it seem acceptable and mainstream to hold such opinions.

My impression is that as a daytime TV presenter there is nobody there to push back. He's using his TV presenter role as a soap box and for a presenter to do that should be P45 time.

It will be interesting to see how the BBC react considering how they reacted to Lineker for 'political' comments. Obviously if he does get any pushback there'll be a load of people moaning how he's meaning silenced and that people like them are 'not allowed a voice'.

Was it on BBC channel? But then if he presents on any BBC channel I suppose that's not relevant as in Lineker's case his expressed views were not on BBC but Social Media.

I don’t share those views, but, how do you know they are not “mainstream”, how do you define “mainstream”?

When I read about Rylan's comments, it was Lineker who immediately came to mind. Crazy business!

No, ITV but he still works for the BBC or at least he was on Radio 2 still a few weeks ago (I assume as a freelancer which I think was also the case with Lineker).

It shows the polite dont get involved attitude British are known for has been eroded by abusing their welcoming spirit, abusing their children by foreign illegal immigrants.

No longer

The government has won the epping hotel case.

Its actually a win for the British public, will bring about more activity against these premises

The government puts foreign criminals above the native British women and children

Rylan is a "celebrity" not a chief anything.
I will be very disappointed if I am wrong on this.

I think that will be another (unfortunately) nail in Labour’s coffin and a boon to Reform.

The immigration issue has been/is the Achilles heel of both Labour and Conservatives

The immigration services have undergone several 'restructurings' over the last couple of decades. Each time the new entity has reproduced the failings of its predecessor and added new ones. Funding has been reduced to the point where asylum seekers are just an increasing logjam stuffed in hotels.

In September 2020, the Public Accounts Committee published a report that was highly critical of the Immigration Enforcement. The Committee found that Home Office had "no idea" what the IE unit had achieved since being established. The Committee also found that officials were reliant on "disturbingly weak evidence" when assessing the efficacy of immigration enforcement policies. [wiki]

When I said "mainstream" I was thinking that those listening and sympathising/agreeing with this TV person would be feeling the views were "normal", held by large numbers, not extreme, not outliers. After all if a popular daytime TV presenter can say such things out loud then nothing radical they should be ashamed of ...

That they were based on untruth and lack of understanding, etc. seems not important to far too many.

There are no untruths

We (the government) are allowing/importing by the tens of thousands illegal young men , who are raping our girls/women, causing other crimes.

They are costing billions of pounds of taxpayers money.

The government has in open court said the rights of illegal immigrants are higher than British citizens.

This government is not legitimate and should be removed from power
