I remember when we had our first. One of the latest gadgets was a little egg that changed colour based on temperature. If the room temperatue for baby was good it would be green - a little too hot or cold yellow, far too hot or cold red.

The problem is that this ideal baby room temperature is a lot colder than what most normal adults consider to be a normal room temperature. It was impossible to keep to. Room temp in my house is usually set to 22 degrees, occasionally boosted to 23. MiL likes her house one to two degrees warmer than that.

The whole thing is based on the idea that parents will wrap them up in lots of clothes. A baby in only a nappy at 22 degrees is going to be fine/cold.

I was going to make a comment about 'swaddling', but googled it first, and found this, which suggests that swaddling can increase the risk of SIDS. It's no wonder parents can get a bit paranoid.
