I remember when we had our first. One of the latest gadgets was a little egg that changed colour based on temperature. If the room temperatue for baby was good it would be green - a little too hot or cold yellow, far too hot or cold red.

The problem is that this ideal baby room temperature is a lot colder than what most normal adults consider to be a normal room temperature. It was impossible to keep to. Room temp in my house is usually set to 22 degrees, occasionally boosted to 23. MiL likes her house one to two degrees warmer than that.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a normal adult. Maybe I'm still a baby.

18.5* in this house, and that's only the rooms we are in.

*Not currently, obv.

The whole thing is based on the idea that parents will wrap them up in lots of clothes. A baby in only a nappy at 22 degrees is going to be fine/cold.

Is the summary of today's research that the ideal room temperature for an infant is room temperature?

I think we need to discuss 'chambré' in relation to wine, if we're going to address this topic in a tangible and useful way.

(I hope you'll forgive sandals and T-shirt in place of slippers and the smoking jacket today.)

Providing you are not wearing socks, this is acceptable.
