There's a wedding venue on the opposite side of the valley to my house.

I can hear sea shanties at the moment. From the venue on the Devon side of the river.

I assume the newly weds are from London, and are getting married in the county of Devonandcornwallshire.

I should add that we are about as far from the sea as it is possible to get in Devonandcornwallshire.

They should have shut the fark up by 11pm. And it's raining, which is good on many levels.

And this is the second of the 6 kitsch weddings they are allowed to host per year so o ly 4 more to go.

We needed some background music at the end of ceremonies at Falmouth, and my tentative suggestion of shanties was rebuffed with an expletive. The sound guys suggested royalty-free lift music, which was perfect, in fact, and didn't involve any arrrrr-ing at all.

I'm not Cornish, obviously, but I imagine sea shanties are considered by some as a trope, along with parrots.
