There's a wedding venue on the opposite side of the valley to my house.
I can hear sea shanties at the moment. From the venue on the Devon side of the river.
I assume the newly weds are from London, and are getting married in the county of Devonandcornwallshire.
I'm not Cornish, obviously, but I imagine sea shanties are considered by some as a trope, along with parrots. We needed some background music at the end of ceremonies at Falmouth, and my tentative suggestion of shanties was rebuffed with an expletive. The sound guys suggested royalty-free lift music, which was perfect, in fact, and didn't involve any arrrrr-ing at all.

Pirates of Penzance was rebuffed too.
Not surprised. HMS Pinafore is much classier.
Maybe they’re all big Theresa May fans?Actually, to be fair, I suspect that G&S is now too niche to be reckernized by more than a tiny proportion of students. OTOH, Dancing Queen for the students to walk out to seems to have gone down treat, and seems to work across the generations.

Out of a sheer sense of masochistic curiosity I've followed the career of arguably the world's worst film maker Uwe Boll for years now. His truly woeful effort at House of the Dead remains the only film I have ever walked out of.
Since then his films have gone from terrible to worse, mostly video game adaptations which bear little if any resemblance to the game. There have been some vaguely decent efforts - Darfur and the Rampage Trilogy, but that's it. Postal was alright I suppose.
Left to my own devices this morning I decided to watch his latest opus, Citizen Vigilante, which is basically a wildly racist and ignorant view of immigration and Europe.
What genuinely pisses me off about this film is that it's been given traction, all of it by Musk. I reckon he genuinely believes the film is based on him as our vigilante is apparently unfathomably wealthy and operates with impunity.
In a bizarre twist, Armie Hammer thought this might be a good comeback film, but goddamn was he wrong. Back to selling timeshares in the Caymans for you.
