Cool, another Tory supports Labour, further blurring the lines for some folks.

That's report is nuts. Sending your candidate to help out in another constituency instead of campaigning in his own? Regardless of it being an unwinnable seat, that's treating both party workers and Labour voters in Clacton with contempt. Lots of candidates campaign enthusiastically in unwinnable seats because it's not just about that seat. I admire anybody prepared to go round knocking on doorsteps to get their message across. Why would you even bother having a Clacton Labour party in that case?

Huh!?

You ok hun?

Grim...

I don't think anybody doubted Labour were going to win, it was pretty obvious.

A more appropriate time for gloating would be when Starmer has managed to implement real change, which the jury is still very much out on and will be for some time.

Hopefully everything will go well and we won't need another coprophagic statement to darken our mornings!

Literally everything I said in this thread has been proved correct, despite the ridicule, whether it be denial of Tory attack lines by muted Labour approach, or Labour decimating the SNP in Scotland.

411 seats is not an accident, or a just a factor of Tory unpopularity. It's a measure of how far Labour leadership was able to de-toxify the Labour party in the eyes of the voting public.

Now we will see what Labour governance looks like, uncoupled from the need to appease the left or the right, or the press.

Eat it all up, Andy. Especially the fresh Scottish flavoured lumps

Labour have been in power for less than a day...give them a chance.

But, in those few hours they've already canned the Rwanda scheme.

I think what people misunderstand is the difference between electoral politics and governance, and how the latter is affected by electoral success.

411 is huge. Starmer will have huge power for several months. Naturally, I don't know what he will do, but what he can do is very different to what he would have been able to do if he'd just scraped in and found himself beholden to factions within his own party.

Hopefully everything will go well and we won't need another coprophagic statement to darken our mornings!

Don't worry, I'm fully prepared to tuck into my own supply if it's a disaster.

It's hard to read anything you're writing at this point without thinking about this scene from There Will be Blood...
