The Tories are just as divided, but better at keeping it in-house, with the connivance of the right-wing press.

Have the Tories ever had a group such as Momentum designed to stoke division?

The ERG?
Boris purged the party of all centre right MPs to stop decent. Including Churchill’s grandson.

The ERG were a pressure group of ardent Brexiteers with that purpose in mind rather than a permanent divide in the party.

You will get no arguments from me about how bad Johnson was but he is not the first, and will not be the last party leader to use that tactic to shore up his own support at the expense of some of his troops.

At the controls of my private jet.
Naturally it's fab to see the Conservatives imploding under the weight of their own filth, and a change of government is fervently to be wished, but without radical rejuvenation of our democracy it feels like the offer of respite care merely.
Yes it will be nice to spend a few days in a cosy B&B in Staithes courtesy the local churches' Carer Support initiative, strolling the foreshore, unwinding, drinking slow fireside pints in a smugglers' pub, catching up with a bit of reading, getting some uninterrupted nights' sleep. But it'll pass all too quickly and then back to your alzheimic charge, to the nerve-shredding howling, the violence, the incontinence and gibberish, to the accelerating tragedy.
The party of the non-dom tax avoider will re-group. Although I'm getting on a bit and there's talk of them being out of power for a generation, I fear I could yet live to see it.

Don't get me wrong there's nobody who enjoys watching this sh1tshow of a goverment eat itself more than me...but I wish I had some enthusiasm for Labour ! I can't see much that's telling me it's going to be nothing more than austerity with a red rosette ☹️

That's how the far right gets a hold in the consciousness of the working class abandoned by Labour. Weimar Republic here we come.

I'm not really sure he is really doing much. The bounce in the polls is due to Truss' ineptitude, not Starmer's ability. I would have expected Labour to be championing the workers discontent, but they are not.

I am really worried about the future.

Sorry that's exactly what meant ! It's fell in his lap without doing a thing....and all the signals point in a direction of not changing a thing if he is elected.
